Jeremy Renner is back at work as the unofficial “Mayor” of Kingstown, dodging bullets and chasing after criminals in the new teaser trailer for the third season of “Mayor of Kingstown.”
This marks his first return to our screens following his fatal snowplow accident that left him with 30 broken bones and a blunt chest trauma.
But that’s all in the past, because the actor worked so hard to get to where he is at the moment. “Where he is at the moment” includes performing bold stunts and even complicated dance moves. We’ve got our superhero back.
New “Mayor Of Kingstown” Trailer Teases That “The Mayor is Back in Business”
In the teaser video, we hear Renner’s Mike McLusky reveal, “5 percent of people are truly good. 5 percent are evil. The rest of us, we wrestle between the two. But we are what we are, what we’re willing to do.”
As we hear this thrilling monologue, we’re shown flashes of explosion, unrest, uprising, as Mayor McLusky tries his best to keep peace between all factions.
However, when an acquaintance from his past shows up, it threatens to undermine all he’s worked so hard for.
Per the upcoming season’s logline, “a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls.”
Co-created by Oscar nominated writer Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, the show centers on the McLusky family power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry.
The show blends themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, alongside a fight to bring order and justice to a town where there is none.
The third season of “Mayor of Kingstown” will start streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on June 3.
The show’s description reads: “A crime drama about an important contemporary issue, America’s prison system, “Mayor of Kingstown” follows the McLusky family in Kingstown, Mich., where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. The family of power brokers between police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians tackle themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality.”
