New theories have emerged about a Station 19 spinoff. Fans are upset over the show’s shocking cancellation. The original could spawn another spinoff series focused on two fan favorites. Keep on reading to learn more.
Station 19 Spoilers – New Spinoff Series?
Two stars spoke out about the future of Station 19. They sided with the fans. Both don’t want to see the show end.
They’re hoping ABC will still produce a spinoff series that could include some of the show’s original characters. It could focus on Maya (Danielle Savre) and Carina (Stefania Spampinato).
As fans know, Station 19 is a spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy that centers around the firefighters at the Seattle Fire Department.
Their personal and professional lives mesh, mimicking the storylines on Grey’s Anatomy. It follows Andrea “Andy” Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz), who is the captain of Station 19. The Shonda Rhimes series premiered in 2018 and is now in its seventh and final season.
Stefania Spampinato and Danielle Savre spoke to TV Insider about the cancellation. They explained what they wanted to see happen between Maya and Carina. Spampinato suggested a spinoff centering around the popular couple.
“I agree with the spinoff. It’s been nice,” Savre said.
“[Marina] lives on with the fans if it doesn’t live on with us. I’m excited to see – some of the fan fiction. has been pretty dead on,” Spampinato chimed in. “It feels like our finale could have been inspired by some fan fiction.”
Transition For Marina
The beloved couple has been hailed as “Marina” by Station 19. The final season focused on the couple expanding their family. Carina wants to have a baby the old-fashioned way.
In the April 11 episode, she learned she had no viable eggs. Their option would be to implant one of Maya’s eggs in Carina.
“Even though there are only five episodes left, they are going to be a real roller coaster of emotions,” Savre explained. “I’m trying not to spoil anything, but it’s definitely going to be a roller coaster. Regardless of what the end is, we are going to take you on a ride in five episodes.”
Spampinato teased that the couple is “talking and solving all the issues.” Their family issues will lead to more struggles in the series finale. It’s still being determined whether ABC will take on a new spinoff series. The network claimed that budgeting was the reason for Station 19’s cancellation.
“It came down to ABC wanting to save money in a push for an economical schedule balancing scripted far with reality and live sports,” sources told Deadline.
