Why isn’t Kayla Wallace starring in When Calls the Heart?

Season 11 of When Calls the Heart is already going strong, but fans of Kayla Wallace, who plays Fiona Miller, wonder where she is. With Mei Sou (Amanda Wong) running the barber shop right now, where is Fiona? Has she left the Hallmark show for good? Has Fiona Miller left Hope Valley? Her absence was briefly explained at the start of season 11, but fans may have missed this.

In the first episode, titled When Stars Align, Minnie Canfield (Natasha Burnett), tells Dr. Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks) that Fiona had sent a telegram. The telegram explained that Fiona wasn’t returning to Hope Valley as she was involved with the Suffragettes. Moreover, she was working alongside her sister to finally give women their rights.

What has happened to Kayla Wallace?

While that explained the status of her character, it didn’t reveal why Wallace was missing from the show. However, Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth knows why Kayla isn’t a part of season 11 of When Calls The Heart.

After the first episode of season 11 aired, Krakow revealed to TV Insider that there was a scheduling problem, saying:

We love Kayla Wallace. We would love for her to be in every episode. Kayla had a really incredible opportunity on another TV series that films out of town. We’re excited for her.

Meanwhile, that new “opportunity” refers to the latest Taylor Sheridan project, Landman. This is exciting for Kayla, as every series Sheridan releases is hugely popular, like Yellowstone and Lioness and other Paramount series.

Will Kayla Wallace return to When Calls The Heart?

While Erin was happy to open up about Kayla’s new opportunity, she seemed hesitant to say if she would return to the show. She explained to TV Insider:

We are hoping that we’ll be able to have Fiona back for some episodes. Who knows? But yeah, we truly, truly over the moon thrilled for Kayla.
