Hallmark’s Nikki DeLoach wants a sequel with Andrew Walker
Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker are well-known for their Hallmark Mystery franchise, Curious Caterer and a holiday movie, A Dream of Christmas. In a recent interview, Nikki was promoting the latest movie in the mystery franchise, but the talented actress also spoke of a Christmas wish that is close to her heart. She wants to work with Andrew again on a sequel to A Dream of Christmas.
While currently, Hallmark is airing its Countdown to Summer programming event, many of the network’s stars are already looking ahead to Christmas. In fact, headlines have already started on the Countdown to Christmas programming. In this case, DeLoach opened up to Us Magazine about her biggest Christmas wish and the reason why she would like to see a sequel to A Dream of Christmas.
In the interview, Nikki started by saying: “I had this idea that I have been dying and wanting to do for years.” The talented Hallmark actress and producer then explained her wish is to make a sequel to her movie with Andrew Walker, A Dream of Christmas. She also revealed that fans have also asked Hallmark for a sequel to that movie.
About A Dream of Christmas
In the Hallmark movie, A Dream of Christmas, Nikki and Andrew’s characters play a married couple, Penny and Stuart. Penny is working a job that she is overqualified for and is underpaid and underappreciated. Meanwhile, Stuart is busy working on his dream photography project, where he often travels to take photos.
Penny makes a wish in front of Jayne “The Angel” (Cindy Williams) and the following day is magically single and killing it in the boardroom. So, Penny did get her wish, but Stuart is no longer in her life and he doesn’t even know her.
Nikki’s character spends the movie trying to bring Stuart back into her life while navigating a client relationship with Andrew (Christopher Russell). Naturally, Christmas magic does reunite the couple.
Why does Nikki want Hallmark to make a sequel to A Dream of Christmas?
In the interview with Us Magazine, Nikki explained why she wants a sequel to the movie. Firstly, she wants to jump 10 years ahead and she wants Penny and Stuart to have three children. However, she sees the couple’s life as a challenge, saying:
They have not had children back in the day whenever we first saw them in that movie. They [now] have three children. They are underwater. They’re underwater with their jobs. They’re underwater with their children. They’re underwater with lives.
Meanwhile, DeLoach uses her own personal life as the plot of the movie. She is married IRL to Ryan Goodell and they have two children, Hudson, 10, and Bennett, 6. On his side, Andrew is married to Cassandra Troy and they also have two sons, West, 8, and Wolf, 4.
Nikki theorizes that Penny and Stuart could find themselves wishing for a different and more carefree life, saying:
And what if they both make a wish unintentionally?
In that scenario, both Penny and Stuart would find themselves in an alternate reality, where they will “have to work together to come back to each other.”
The Hallmark actress makes an intriguing case with her idea – do you think Hallmark Channel will take her up on it?
