Marvel Star Chris Hemsworth Takes A Stand For Daytime Dramas

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth is best known for his role as Thor in the Marvel franchise, a character he’s been playing since 2011. Still, did you know he got his start in daytime television?

The actor recently took a moment to stand up for the land of soaps (and their performers), during an interview with Variety.

Promoting his latest project, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, he talked to Variety about his respect for the comic book genre.

In fact, he took aim at actors/actresses who “bash” comic book films after being them and related it those same types of actors/actresses who got their start in soaps. Some often get their start in daytime drama, only to turn up there noses to this industry.

Hemsworth tells Variety, “Look, I grew up on a soap opera, and it used to bother me when actors would later talk about the show with guilt or shame. Humility goes a long way. One of the older actors on Home and Away said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.’ That stuck with me.”

Hollywood Star Chris Hemsworth Break In Acting

Prior to his movie roles, the Australian actor landed gigs in his home country, here and there, with a brief stint on the well-known soap, Neighbours.

After that run, a year later, Home and Away, another Australian soap, came calling, where Hemsworth played Kim Hyde.

He was with the series from 2004 to 2007, until Hollywood came calling shortly after, and the rest is history!

Since, Chris has been in a slew of blockbuster hits, including his Marvel movies, but also has had major role in major films like, Snow White & The Huntsman, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, and many others.
