General Hospital Spoilers: ‘Who Dun It’ On The Horizon – Who Kills John “Jagger” Cates?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers seem to suggest that a ‘who dun it’ storyline is on the horizon, and all arrows are pointing toward John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

While fans have been on the fence as to whether the character is a good or bad guy, it’s become increasingly evident that he’s not a decent person, and he’s made a ton of enemies in recent weeks. To boot, Cates seems very expendable now that the Pikeman storyline has wrapped up.

If Cates is found murdered, there would be a long list of suspects, so who will be the one to ax the infamous FBI agent?

GH Spoilers: Suspect #1 – Jason Morgan

GH spoilers hint that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is at the end of his rope where John Cates is concerned.

The Monday, July 22 episode showed some scenes between Cates and Stone Cold, and not only is the FBI agent not letting go of the blackmail he has over Jason’s head, but he’s also pushing his buttons.

Jason may simply shoot John just to get him out of hair, it may be the only way he can finally get his old life back and move on.

GH Spoilers: Suspect #2 – Carly Spencer

GH spoilers indicate that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is at her wit’s end with John, too. What started as a flirty friendship with potential for romance, Carly now can’t stand John, and the fact that he is holding her RICO charges over Jason’s head, is pissing her off that much more.

Carly’s not exactly a killer; however, she is extremely loyal to Jason and may want to do her part to free Stone Cold of Cates and the FBI, for good.

GH Spoilers: Suspect #3 – Sonny Corinthos

GH spoilers suggest that Carly will run to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) soon and tell him that Cates is looking to bring him down. As fans know, Sonny is getting zero bipolar meds at this point, and if provoked, could do some damage to someone.

This may be a “caught up in the moment” or “accidental” killing, but Sonny could cross a line like that with Cates, especially if the FBI agent pushes his buttons.

GH Spoilers: Suspect #4 – Ava Jerome

Ava Jerome (Maura West) is playing a very manipulative game with Cates, as she pretends to be the victim when it comes to her issues with Sonny. In fact, she’s part of the reason John is going so hard on nailing the mob boss.

She’ll likely continue to use flirting to get him to do what she wants, and the villainess is set to lock lips with the FBI agent in the days ahead. But, what if he wants more?

What if she’s not willing to do more? Fans have seen Cates do some underhanded stuff in the past, like trying and question Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) while no adults were around.

What if he and Ava start kissing, and he doesn’t take “no” for an answer? In fighting him off, could Ava accidentally kill him? Of course, she wouldn’t say a word, because, who would believe her?

Plus, she needs to remain scandal-free during her custody case. A judge would never give her sole custody of Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) with a murder charge on her record, right?

GH Spoilers: Suspect #5 – Anna Devane

Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is a major heroine on the show, and wouldn’t kill anyone without just cause … right? Still, she’s done some questionable things lately, like seduce Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to get that satellite radio off him.

With that being said, she also helped Cassadine escape the FBI by giving him a heads up about what she did. If provoked, she could shoot Cates, in an effort to rid him from humanity. Especially since she’s on the spot now with Jason.

She promised Stone Cold everything would be okay if he gave Cates the information he needed, even if Valentin escaped from the FBI. Still, John isn’t budging with Jason’s freedom and just wants more. Maybe she offs John as a favor to “Stone Cold”?

GH Spoilers: Suspect #6 – Jack Brennan

While Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) is in prison right now, anything is possible in the land of soaps when it comes to “who dun its”.

After all, Valentin was able to pull Jack aside from his cell months ago via a prison bus to have a chat with him, so maybe there’s a chance that Valentin could hire Jack, organize his brief release, do the deed, and then have him back in his jail before anyone notices.

Cates has been a thorn in Pikeman’s side for a long while, and ultimately the reason he and Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) fled Port Charles. Could he hire Brennan to wipe John away so the two could potentially return?

Then again, maybe Valentin returns and does the deed himself. The element of surprise is always an interesting thing when it comes to murder mysteries in daytime drama!
