After over two decades, ‘Freaky Friday’ is coming back and it’s going to be worth the wait, or so Jamie Lee Curtis promises.
Jamie Lee Curtis – On What Fans Can Expect From ‘Freaky Friday’s’ Fictional Band Pink Slip
What’s a ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel without a taste of Pink Slip – the fictional rock band comprised of Lindsay Lohan, Christina Vidal and Haley Hudson’s characters Anna, Maddie and Peg.
And since all three actresses have happily confirmed their return to the series, we’ll definitely be getting a performance or two from the trio.
According to Curtis, we’ll not only be getting a performance, we’ll be getting a performance that will tug on our heartstrings.
“Pink Slip is back, let’s put it that way,” Curtis, 63, shared with PEOPLE at D23 on Friday, Aug. 9. “When we were [filming the songs, audience members] were like, ‘Encore!’ And we were like, ‘We only have one song, we didn’t think this through!’ ” she said. “But there are more songs in this movie.”
“Let me just say this. There’s a song in this new movie that is going to the…” Curtis began, to which Lohan added, “It tugs on your heartstrings.”
“It will be a very popular song,” the Oscar winner continued. “It’ll be the song of the summer next summer. I guarantee it. And I’m an old lady and so you should trust me on this.”
Lohan then revealed that some scenes featuring Pink Slip have already been shot, but that the thing that touched her the most was the people’s reaction to the fictional band performing again.
“Last night we were filming a scene. I’ll say, we bring some things back,” she teased. “But just seeing the reaction that people had to it, was so heartwarming. Like I almost wanted to cry because I didn’t realize how Pink Slip really became so huge.”
While the first movie revolved around Lohan and Curtis’s characters switching bodies with each other, the second movie will see them switch bodies with two teenage girls.
So yeah, the Friday is sure to be freakier in ‘Freakier Friday,’ and with a promise of a smash heart-stirring song, what’s keeping you from marking your calendar already, even though we don’t know the exact date it’ll premiere yet. Just put sometime in 2025 and you’re good, for now.
We’ll be keeping you informed about the updates the second they drop.
