General Hospital Alum Ryan Paevey Reveals Heartbreak Over Mom’s Cancer

General Hospital (GH) alum, Ryan Raevey (ex-Nathan West) stepped away from social media and removed most of his posts on his handles, about two months ago. Fans were pleasantly surprised when he recently took the time to update them on his life, via Instagram Stories. More on this story, below.

“General Hospital” Spoilers- Alum Ryan Paevey Updates Fans On His Mom

While on his Instagram Stories, the GH alum took questions for about an hour and a half. With 1,200+ fans online, there were plenty to choose from; however, the number one query was about his mom.

Paevey confirmed in his IG Stories that his mother currently has stage 4 lung cancer, and he added that while it’s been tough, “… we’re doing what we can do. We’re fighting it.”

He adds he is on Medicare, as, “You know, I don’t have some secret rich guy Hollywood insurance that I can give my mother. We’re in the dregs.

Paevey noted in his IG Stories he takes his mom out for walks, and they both “annoy” the heck out of each other. He also shared that their roles have been reversed, and he now needs to encourage his mother to eat.

In addition, he added that he’s done a lot of research about cancer and different treatments. It’s clear he wants to make sure he does everything he can to help her.

The former actor moved from LA to San Diego to care for her, stating, “My mom’s been a smoker my whole life. I knew something was coming. So, yeah, I mean my journey down here to San Diego, [when] I left Los Angeles, began a few years ago.”

He added, his mom would “never go to a doctor,” and “I knew something was wrong. Anytime you hug someone you hear the way they breathe?”

He went on to describe her breathing, which was “like chain link fence on a gravel parking lot.”

Our hearts go out to Ryan Paevey and his mom during this difficult time. She’s lucky to have her son by her side.
