Beyond the Gates Taping Starts On November 4
In just under two months, specifically on November 4, The Gates will begin filming its inaugural episodes in Atlanta, Georgia. The casting process for the new CBS soap opera is ramping up significantly.
TV Insider has discovered the next set of characters the show aims to cast, following the initial group that was announced earlier-we’ll keep you updated on all developments.
All roles are for contract players and the casting call specified they must be Atlanta residents. As previously mentioned, the taping starts on November 4.
Beyond The Gates – Patrick
The show had announced that it is casting its first set of roles, beginning with the character “Patrick;” Patrick is a Black man in his late 60s to 70s.
The casting description portrays him as gentle, humble, and generous with his wisdom; he was actively involved in the civil rights movement of the 1960s, marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King.
After that, he had a successful career as a Senator. Now retired, Patrick is enjoying his golden years in a lovely home with his wife, Betty. However, he is concealing a dangerous family secret.
Beyond The Gates – Rick
Next, comes Rick-Rick is a Caucasian man in his mid-30s who spent his childhood just a stone’s throw away from a fire station.
His admiration for the firefighters intensified when one of them took him under his wing and mentored him. Although Rick is known for his bravery, his captain often hopes he would exercise a bit more prudence.
With his striking looks, often described as “incredibly attractive,” Rick seems destined to achieve his aspirations of marriage, parenthood, and a fulfilling career until retirement.
Beyond The Gates – David
David is a Black man in his thirties, hailing from a lineage steeped in law enforcement. He is committed to the oath he took to “serve and protect,” which fuels his moral outrage when he witnesses a corrupt faction of police officers and cunning attorneys flouting the law.
He discovers corruption and is especially upset by a lawyer named Joseph, both legally and ethically.
With a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic, David often finds himself deeply emotionally connected to his cases, particularly those involving young victims. He takes immense pride not only in his wife but also in the heritage of his family.
Beyond The Gates – Joseph And Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a Black woman in her mid-30s; she is beautiful, smart, charming, and funny, but also has a mysterious side; she got a job as a paralegal and met Joseph. Joseph was married to Sara at the time—the same woman who recommended Elizabeth for the job!
Elizabeth and Joseph are close to getting married, but other women in her social group see her as a “husband-stealing tramp.”
Despite this, she believes that with time, patience, charm, and hard work, she can change their opinions. Even if she doesn’t succeed, Elizabeth still has what matters most—Joseph’s love.
Beyond The Gates – Marcus
Marcus is a congressman who continues his grandfather’s legacy in politics, but instead of residing in the upscale Fairmont Estates, he lives in a brownstone in Washington D.C. He believes it’s essential to live in the area he represents; Marcus is married to his husband, Daniel.
Seven years ago, they adopted two siblings-they met when Daniel was a reporter covering politics in D.C. Now, Daniel stays home to care for their kids. Marcus is very ambitious and dreams of becoming the first Black openly gay President.
Beyond The Gates – Katie
Katie is described as a Caucasian woman in her mid-30s. Although she is now an adult, she grew up as the sole child of a young single mother. Always ready to get her hands dirty, Katie embodies the qualities of a compassionate nurse.
Her energetic and effective approach, combined with her ability to think on her feet, makes her stand out. Her commitment to helping others comes from a place of true sincerity.
Beyond The Gates – Sam
Sam is an exceptional plastic surgeon, known for his skill and expertise. He practices at Garland Memorial and co-manages a highly exclusive private clinic with his longtime friend and fellow surgeon, Lester Fine.
Sam has built a flawless life, complete with a wonderful wife whom he adores. After overcoming some challenges in their relationship, Sam now enjoys peaceful nights, confident that their past struggles will not interfere with the happiness he has cultivated.
Beyond The Gates – Stacy
Stacy, an elegant Black woman in her forties, presides over a prestigious real estate firm that caters to the elite market of luxury properties.
Although she harbors affection for her husband, the spark of romantic love has long since faded for both of them. Their intimate life has been a thing of the past for years, yet Stacy seeks fulfillment in other avenues.
Now, whether the “other avenues” she seeks fulfillment in are sexual ones, this is not spelled out. We’ll just have to wait and see when the show airs!
Beyond The Gates – Courtney And Diane
Courtney is portrayed as an African American woman in her 40s to early 50s, possessing a captivating intensity and charm, yet exhibiting signs of being somewhat unhinged.
Following the passing of her husband, a serendipitous meeting stirred and rekindled the simmering rage that had long been concealed within her.
At first, it is only Diane who perceives the unsettling aspects of Courtney’s demeanor. But Diane has two sides; one side is for everyone to see, and the other is for her private life; she is a Black woman in her late 20s, full of energy and determination.
At first, she seems mysterious, but soon her true self will come out-when the moment is right, Diane intends to fix a serious mistake.
Beyond The Gates – Jillian
Jillian is a Black woman in her late 20s who grew up around ideals of beauty that felt out of reach. While she is attractive, she doesn’t match the “runway ready” look of her mother, Sara, or her sister, Cheryl.
Although she struggles with her self-image, Jillian is very intelligent and has inherited her grandmother Betty’s talent for singing, which has created a strong bond between them.
This connection is as valuable to her as her loving marriage to her husband, David, a policeman who supports her completely. Like her cousin Marcus, Jillian lives outside The Gates, in Washington D.C., where she works as a dedicated attorney for the community.
Beyond The Gates – Luis
Luis, a striking Hispanic gentleman in his thirties, serves as a personal trainer at the prestigious Fairmont Estates Country Club. His captivating presence has drawn his attention to one of the alluring married women residing just beyond The Gates.
With an undeniable charm and an engaging personality, Luis effortlessly captivates those around him. Might he be the one who is one of Stacy’s “other avenues?”
Beyond The Gates – Allison
“Allison” starts off the second batch of roles released in casting calls for “The Gates”-keep in mind these may not be actual names of the characters once the show airs.
Allison is portrayed as a Black woman in her mid to late 20s. She is the unexpected blessing that Jessica and Sam never imagined would come into their lives.
Unsurprisingly, Allison has been pampered throughout her upbringing, leading to her somewhat spoiled nature and often looks down on those she perceives as inferior.
With a strong sense of confidence and security, Allison is not fond of sharing; yet, it seems that her perspective might shift in the near future.
Beyond The Gates – Armand
Armand is a Black man in his mid-30s who has carved out a niche as a freelance photographer. A decade ago, he faced the heartbreaking loss of both parents in a plane crash, which left him with their substantial inheritance.
Known for his philanthropic spirit, Armand shares a close bond with his Uncle Sam, from his father’s side, and Jessica, who both stepped in to support him during his time of grief.
With a charming demeanor and a sophisticated outlook on life, Armand has a particular fondness for women and is an exceptional dancer. Yet, there’s an air of mystery surrounding him that leads some to question his true motives.
Beyond The Gates – Cheryl
Cheryl is a young Black woman in her early twenties who has made a name for herself as a successful fashion model since the age of 18, despite her hesitations.
She feels a strong obligation to recreate the life her mother, Sara, sacrificed. Although modeling isn’t her true passion, Cheryl has earned a substantial income from it.
Her ultimate aspiration is to launch her own line of handbags, establishing her brand along the way, and eventually create a stylish yet budget-friendly clothing collection.
Cheryl is familiar with cocaine, which she views as the ideal substance, but she has the ability to walk away from it whenever she chooses-she thinks.
