General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco Speaks Out On Her Exit, Promises ‘Proper Statement’ Soon

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that fans have been buzzing ever since it was announced that Kelly Monaco was let go from the soap.

According to reports, the character she plays, Sam McCall, is set to be killed off, sometime this fall. The Monaco-exit news shocked fans; however, not as much as the actress’ recent actions on social media.

In a stunning move, Monaco spoke out on her GH departure, within a comment on a social media post.

On the Soap Hub Instagram account, Monaco responded to a comment, adding a ton of insight into why she is leaving General Hospital.

The post was about an article on Days of Our Lives star, Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) supporting Monaco, when an IG user replied, “Terrible they fired Kelly, what a terrible thing to do. What’s their problem??I love Gregg Vaughn. Hope he can stay on Days. ❤️❤️❤️”

Another soap fan made a comment stating, “What do you got concrete in your head she wasn’t fired she didn’t take the pay cut, so she had to leave.”

This is when Monaco hopped on the thread and replied to the above comment, stating, “’No primary role’.. do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline stopped.

Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience.

Call it what you will… retaliation at it[s] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”

General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco Vows To Tell More

The above IG comment, which has since been deleted, comes off the cusp of another IG post that the actress uploaded on her own Instagram account on Sunday, September 15.

She posted a photo of her and the late Billy Miller as a tribute on the first anniversary of his passing. In the post, she promised to tell her and Miller’s “side of the story” at some point soon.

Interestingly enough, October 1 marks 21 years of Kelly Monaco playing Sam McCall. Even more interesting is that her mom recently hopped on X/Twitter and alerted fans that Friday, September 27 was the last filming day for Monaco at GH.
