General Hospital Alum Réal Andrews Officially Joining Cast Of ‘Beyond The Gates’

According to Soaps In Depth, General Hospital (GH) alum, Réal Andrews, who once played Marcus Taggert on the show, has officially joined Beyond The Gates, a new daytime drama set to air on CBS, currently slated in pre-production.

Andrews tells the online soap mag, that this is the “biggest role in my life”, adding, “It’s on the biggest and best network, the best director, producers, writers … in my opinion, in the industry.  

He is currently under an NDA agreement with the new soap, and cannot disclose much information about the character he’ll be playing or the storyline he’ll be in.

General Hospital News – Alum Réal Andrews No Longer In Port Charles

Andrews went on to say that when he’s able to share more details on his new Gates role, he will, but he hints that it’ll all “blow” everyone’s mind.

He goes on to say that this is the biggest and best project of his life.

In fact, Andrews notes, “Everything I’ve done for my whole life is for this moment right here. It’s truly the most amazing role of my life. So, we’re preparing for that right now and when it’s the right time, I’ll come on and let you know all about it. Stay tuned.”

GH fans last saw Taggert in Port Charles in July 2023. He was involved in a storyline with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), where he found out he wasn’t her biological father, as he thought he was since the day she was born.

As such, after the DNA test results came in, he began turning to alcohol. Sadly, the soap didn’t further dive into Taggert’s story, and the actor hopped on an Instagram live and told fans that his “chapter” with GH was over.

He did state it was an “amazing journey” on the live.

Marcus Taggert entered the land of Port Charles in 1996 and was involved in a number of interesting angles over the years.

Andrews is no stranger to the land of daytime drama, as he appeared in various other soaps, including Days of Our Lives, All My Children, As the World Turns, as well as Santa Barbara.
