BTS is a step closer to that reunion concert that they promised us bow that J-Hope has safely concluded his mandatory military service.
The vocalist was greeted by one of his bandmates and several fans as he was discharged from South Korea’s military on Thursday after 18 months of duty.
Here’s what he has to say about it.
J-Hope Reacts To Military Service Conclusion Amid Support From Jin And Fans
It was a joyful day for fans to learn that J-Hope has officially become the second member of the global K-pop group BTS to finish his mandatory military enlistment.
The idol walked out of the military camp in Wonju, located in the Gangwon Province just east of Seoul, in his military uniform to waiting press and well-wishing fans.
Jin – the eldest of BTS who has already finished his own service – was also amongst those waiting for him. They shared a warm hug before he handed him the bouquet of flowers he brought as present.
“I completed the military service in good health,” J-Hope happily announced to the press, while Jin knelt to help them with the mics. “I am grateful for the fans who supported me throughout the service.”
J-Hope and the rest of BTS’ enlistment comes due to a South Korean law that demands all able-bodied male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28 to enlist in the military.
While there were some controversies at the time as to whether the seven members of BTS – the K-pop group widely acknowledged to be the biggest in the world – should enlist, the boys released a statement announcing their desire to serve.
Since then, BTS has been on hiatus, with its members releasing solo projects, from Jungkook to their leader RM. Set to drop on the heels of Jungkook’s documentary “Jungkook: I Am Still” is Jin’s upcoming solo album ‘Happy,’ which will be released on November 15.
If there’s a timeline for the band’s proper reunion, it should be sometime in 2025, as the remaining five members – RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and Suga – are expected to be discharged on or before June.
