Previously, we, the fans, were the ones rushing Mariah Carey to kick off the jolly festive season. Now, Mariah Carey is ready to officially sing it open, but alas, it’s not yet time.
Or so Kerry Washington says.
Mariah Carey Teams Up With Kerry Washington To Urge People To Vote In Hilarious Clip
The Queen of Christmas is ready, set, and go to summon the Christmas spirit, but “Scandal” actress Kerry Washington won’t let her.
Just as she is about to power through the hit holiday song, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ Washington jumps into the frame to proclaim that it’s not yet time for ho-ho-hos and pretty decorations.
“It’s not your season yet, Mariah. It’s voting season,” the 47-year-old reminds her, before asking her whether she’s a registered voter and has a plan. The 55-year-old nodded, confirming that she’s a registered voter with a plan.
Washington then shows off her own vocal chops, with Carey trying to chime in between takes. After singing her voting song, Washington then giddily announces, “That’s amazing, because it’s my season before it’s her season.”
Speaking of season, every year manages to see Mariah Carey’s 1994 hit song “All I Want For Christmas” occupying the top of the Billboard chart from late November to early January.
It’s almost become like a holiday tradition for the song to find itself trending worldwide, making appearances in holiday-themed TikTok videos and making the rounds on the radio once the holiday spirit is in full spring.
While many artists have been releasing Christmas singles and albums every year, none of them have been able to topple Carey’s fan-favorite song, not even Taylor Swift’s ‘Christmas Tree Farm,’ Ava Max’s ‘Christmas Without You,’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Christmas Love.'[

Dolly Parton Reacts To Mariah Carey’s “Queen of Christmas” Title
In 2022, Dolly Parton was asked how she feels about Mariah Carey claiming the title of “Queen of Christmas,” and she quickly shut down any speculations of competition between them for the coveted title.
“Now, don’t you say that! I’m not going to compete with Mariah,” Parton said in a Better Homes & Gardens interview. “I love her. You think of Christmas, you think of Mariah. I’m happy to be second in line to her.”
Well, Dolly Parton may be second in line to the Christmas Queen, but Jennifer Hudson is happy to claim the title of ‘Christmas Princess’ instead.
