British royal family news reveals that 2024 may have started off on a strangled note for the clan, but the end of the year will go out with a joyous bang because Kate Middleton will reprise her annual Together at Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey next month.
This has been a challenging year for the princess, as both she and King Charles were diagnosed with cancer. Kate has finished her chemotherapy and the king should be nearing the end of his own course of treatment. What better way to celebrate Christmas and look forward to happier times than an uplifting Christmas-palooza?
Kate’s Annual Tradition
A source told Vanity Fair that the concert will be a happy family occasion that underscores positivity in a year that has been trying at times.
Even Prince William recently described 2024 as a “brutal” year which is surprising given that he has always abided by the ‘never complain, never explain’ mantra. The fact that he spoke with forthright honesty attests to the difficult year the royals have endured.
No doubt the family is looking forward to Kate’s Together at Christmas service, which will air on Christmas Eve on ITV.
The royals posted on X a video of invitations which have gone out to over 1,500 members of the public and Kensington Palace confirmed that “the princess and members of the royal family will attend the Christmas celebration on Friday, December 6.”

Vanity Fair reports that the Wales’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will also be at the concert.
One source said that “The feeling is very much that this year’s service is going to be extra special. It’s a really important occasion for Catherine and she is determined to be there, having been quite hands-on behind the scenes. Expect it to be a big family occasion and a happy note on which to close an otherwise very challenging 2024.”
Royal Family News – A Family Tradition From the Royals
The event is supported by The Royal Foundation and this year’s theme “will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities. …This year, Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy.”
The Abbey will host hundreds of guests “who have supported others in their communities” and performing acts include Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter.
