General Hospital Spoilers: Maurice Benard & Evan Hofer’s Tight Bond is 100% Unlike Sonny and Dex’s Animosity

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Joss Jacks (Eden McCoy) suspects that mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) could have been behind the stabbing of rookie cop Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). Dex was once Sonny’s right hand man, until he had a change of heart and joined forced with the good guys.

While Sonny and Dex are sworn enemies onscreen, their portrayers have a respectful and warm relationship offscreen. Here’s what you need to know about this friendship which bears zero resemblance to the onscreen animosity taking place in Port Charles, New York.

General Hospital Spoilers – Dex Heller And Sonny Corinthos Are Rivals

In October Hofer appeared on Benard’s podcast “State of Mind.” The two men had an easy rapport and spoke about a variety of topics including mental health and the Super Bowl.

At one point Hofer, who debuted on GH in 2022, praised his co-star, explaining how much he values the soap vet: “I’ll talk endlessly about how much you mean to me as a mentor and as a friend.” According to Hofer, Benard has helped him to be a confident with a humble attitude: “It’s a privilege to get to do what we do for a living.”

Benard and Hofer both attended last year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, with Benard nominated for the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor award.

Hofer told “State of Mind” that this was his first time at the awards show and Benard said that having Hofer with him made the night fun and memorable.

Benard didn’t win the award but later said “That Emmy’s was the first Emmy that I was truly present from beginning to end. The fact that I lost did not affect me one bit.”
