Is Hoda Kotb Replacing Kelly Clarkson On Her Daytime Talk Show

The Kelly Clarkson show has been relatively successful since the American Idol Judge hit the talk show stage in 2019.  However this year it was revealed that Kelly and her crew are rumored to be unravelling behind the scenes. 

Rumors have been swirling of Kelly Clarkson getting replaced by Hoda Kotb (NBC Today Show), and now we have all the details!  Keep reading to find out what’s happening with The Kelly Clarkson Show down below.  

Kelly Clarkson Leaving Talk Show?

Hoda Kotb is a daytime veteran and well known on the morning talk show train.  She retired from Today in January of 2025, and stated she was leaving the morning talk show stage to spend more time at home with her children. 

At the time Kotb mentioned feeling guilty about missing out on major milestones with her young children.  Despite officially retiring, Hoda has made appearances on Today since her exit. 

The Kelly Clarkson show seemed to be going strong until this year.  In early 2025 the American Idol judge went MIA and the network was forced to bring in multiple celebrities to cover for her. 

When Clarkson did return to the stage, it was revealed she had a “personal emergency” and the country music star never addressed her absence or what happened.  

Hoda Kotb Speaks Out On Today

Then a few months later a source reported to the New York Post that Kelly Clarkson wanted out of her daytime talk show contract and NBC was shopping for an official replacement. 

Hoda Kotb’s name has been thrown around on the internet for a while now, but the Today star finally addressed the rumblings and show them down.  

Kotb made a surprise visit on the Wednesday episode of her former talk show and explained to her co-stars that there was no truth to the rumors about her replacing Kelly Clarkson. 

In fact, Hoda says that she has no plans to come out of retirement and if she did the only show she wants to be on is Today with her old castmates. 

That doesn’t mean Kelly Clarkson isn’t leaving daytime TV, but it does mean that NBC will have to find another host other than Hoda.
