Kim Kardashian Fans Briefly Fear Her Grandpa Passed Away

Kim Kardashian hit the headlines this week when somebody died. For a few moments, fans claimed that they thought her grandfather had passed away. Read on to find out what caused the confusion and who really died.

TMZ reported that Didier Dubreucq passed away just a month after his conviction for robbery. He’d been released from prison along with his co-criminals who robbed Kim in Paris in 2016. Remember, she lost a lot of jewelry and was terrified because they were armed.

When we reported on the release, we noted that most of them were older than 60 and they had served time before the trial. But the motivating factor for their release came from health issues. One, in their 70s, has Parkinson’s disease, and 69-year-old Didier Dubreucq suffered from “lung cancer.

Why Did Fans Think Kim’s Grandpa Died?

When people are on the internet, they skim-read. So, out went the long, flowery speech of the ’60s and in came tight and concise. Even so, folks don’t stop to think too hard while skimming. So, many of them quickly misinterpreted the headline.

The outlet had written, ‘Kim Kardashian ‘Grandpa Robber’ Dead After Paris Jewelry Heist Conviction.’ If you wonder how they still thought it was Kim Kardashian’s grandpa, the second half of the title was in red on black—not easy to see at a glance.

Many people commented on the headline, and unfortunately, it seemed to detract from the actual story. Not that many people seemed worried about the old man who had always declared his innocence. He was, after all, sick, old news, and far away when he passed away

In fairness to TMZ, the term ‘Grandpa Robbers’ was coined by the press long ago because of their ages. Other mainstream media often used it to describe the gang who robbed Kim Kardashian. So, if you thought that Kim’s grandfather, Robert, had passed away, you can relax briefly.

Actually, her grandad on her mom’s side, Robert True Houghton, died in 1975. Meanwhile, her paternal grandfather, Robert Kardashian, passed away in 2003.
