On Monday, August 18, 2025, the BBC suddenly pulled its new documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home. There wasn’t any warning, which made people wonder what was up. Instead, fans hoping to watch it on BBC One and BBC iPlayer saw an episode of Fake or Fortune.
The Ozzy Documentary Never Happened
The documentary offered an intimate glimpse into the rock legend’s final years, covering his return to the UK and his preparations for what would be his final concert. He’d planned for it, and also for his retirement.

Unfortunately, the famous singer never got to enjoy his retirement and passed away in late July. When The Sun US shared a video on Facebook about the pulled documentary, the outlet noted that the BBC acknowledged the postponement but did not provide an explanation, only stating that updated air dates would be shared in the future.
Of course, that only makes people wonder what the real problem was. Perhaps the family had an issue with it? Originally it was meant to be a ten-part series titled Home to Roost, but was canceled soon after Ozzy’s health started failing.
The Shortened Version
A shorter, one-hour version made into the documentary was supposed to bring scenes of his wife, Sharon, and their children, Kelly and Jack. The documentary also covered his battle with Parkinson’s disease and captured his final show in Birmingham.
Some reports claim that the family didn’t like the idea of rushing the documentary. The source that spoke with The Sun claimed that the BBC might have rushed the premiere date to get one up on a rival project by Paramount+. However, for now, it seems the BBC won’t budge on their explanation that they simply slipped it to another date because of their programming schedule.
Is There A New Premiere Date?
No new date was released for the documentary about Ozzy Osbourne. However, The Independent UK noted that the BBC will release “new transmission details in due course” for the “inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy’s life.”
Fans of the famous rock star were very disappointed by the cancellation at the last minute. When Birmingham Live reported about it on YouTube, they took to the comments section to have their say. And, they felt irritated and disappointed.
Reactions By Fans
One person wrote in the discussion area, “I was looking forward to this documentary and the BBC have now postponed it at short notice. This would have been the best programme they’ve broadcasted in years and they have to go and spoil it.”
