The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (as now played by Michelle Stafford) and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) have been friends for a long time. But they were once romantically involved, as longtime fans recall and all viewers saw during a classic episode when Sandra Nelson (Phyllis) was portraying this infamous Y&R character in 1998.

The most recent episodes in 2020 have Phyllis entering the start of another relationship with her on-again, off-again love, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Devoted fans know their spark was lit in the mid-1990s, due to the crisis that was created through Shick’s loss of Cassie Newman (Mariah Copeland).

Michael and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) are fully in love but have experienced various marital issues throughout the years. An old school revisit of Michael and Phyllis’ shared past would surely prove engaging on many levels.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Michelle Stafford Made Phyllis Summers

Stafford took what was meant as a limited-run part and transformed Phyllis into a legacy character. Her 1997 Daytime Emmy Award, as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, affirmed deep talent. She departed the cast that year, which created the recast of Nelson, played a number of other parts outside of daytime, and then returned to Y&R in 2000, where she remained through 2013. Stafford captured a second Daytime Emmy in 2004, that time in the Outstanding Lead Actress category.

The actor joined the cast of General Hospital in 2014, playing Nina Reeves Clay Cassadine through 2019, when she surprised everyone by reprising her role as Phyllis. Gina Tognoni’s (Phyllis) version of the character was written and played softer than the earlier editions. Stafford’s return led to Phyllis’ pursuit of Nick, who opted to end Phick last year due to trust issues.

Today’s Phyllis is long past the Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) ruse, where she falsely claimed Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) was Daniel’s father. She has never mended fences with Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell), but Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) was able to get past Phyllis running them down and leaving both characters for dead.

Y&R Spoilers – Michael Baldwin’s Checkered Past

Michael was trying to move past his history with Christine that began earlier that decade as the 1998 classic episode showed. The obsessive nature of their personalities is something that Michael had in common with Phyllis, as she was enthralled with Danny for a long period of time. That’s what sparked her rivalry with Cricket, who Phyllis hilariously often referred to as the bug.

It was interesting for all fans to see Le Blanc, a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category (2005, 2007, and 2009), as he was building his character and working toward the highest recognition in the industry. The sight of Michael and Phyllis kissing served as a reminder of what was and possibly, what could be again.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phick Is All That?

It took Nick a long time to believe that Phyllis wasn’t playing her old games. But it would feel tired if Y&R simply has him dump her again. Instead, an unexpected betrayal with an old flame could be a powerful storyline.

Lauren and Phyllis have grown close over the years. Other than Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), who she’s only known for months, Phyllis has no friends.

Phick was all that in the past but hasn’t yet reclaimed such status. Many Genoa City, Wisconsin, residents would be stunned if Phychael (Phyllis plus Michael) emerges when new episodes are shown in the hopefully near future.
