The Young and the Restless Comings and Goings: GH Alum Roger Howarth Joining CBS Daytime Drama

The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest more interesting casting news for the CBS soap. Off the cusp of this week’s announcement that Tamara Braun will be joining the show, CTS has learned that Roger Howarth will be entering the Y&R canvas this fall.

Roger Howarth’s Role

As of this writing, no word on the character Howarth will be playing. The actor is a soap opera veteran on all accounts, debuting in the land of daytime drama in 1992 when he joined the One Life to Live (OLTL) cast, playing Todd Manning.

He was with that show on and off until 2003, as well as from 2011 to 2012. In addition, Howarth played Paul Ryan on As the World Turns (ATWT) from 2003 to the show’s ending in 2010. He also appeared on Guiding Light and Loving.

With that said, Howarth played not one, but three different roles on canvas while at General Hospital (GH). He entered storylines as his OLTL character, Todd Manning, in 2013, then eventually transitioned into the infamous Franco Baldwin role from 2013 to 2020. In September 2021, he re-entered the canvas playing Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt until the character passed away in 2023.

Roger Howarth’s Soapy Success

Much like Tamara Braun, Howarth is a Daytime Emmy winner, racking up a win in 1994 in the Outstanding Younger Actor category for his OLTL work as Todd Manning. He’s been nominated for a total of five Daytime Emmys during his tenure in soaps.

As it seems like Braun and Howarth are entering the canvas at around the same time, it’ll be interesting to see if their storylines will intertwine.

Braun is headed to GC in September, playing the role of Sienna Bell, who will have past connections to other characters currently in storylines.
