The Crown Season 4 spoilers tease that perhaps Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ most humiliating conversation to date won’t be aired on the hit series and as a result, the Netflix historical drama is being slammed for not depicting history as accurately as viewers would like. Here’s what you need to know.
The Crown Season 4 Spoilers: Netflix Series Slammed For Omitting Camillagate
As many royal fans can recall, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles engaged in a rather illicit phone call during their headline-making scandal and affair that took place in 1989. A phone call between Charles and Camilla that was recorded at that time was released to the public in 1993. Known as both ‘Tampongate’ and ‘Camillagate’ their exchange included the future King of England telling Camilla some things that Queen Elizabeth would rather not hear, let alone relive again. Charles was still married to Princess Diana while Camilla was married to her husband Andrew Parker Bowles during the time.
According to Vulture, the executive producers of The Crown have decided not to include anything that references Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ phone call or their scandalous behavior for that matter. Because of this decision, many media outlets and television critics are slamming the Netflix drama for only telling fragments of the royal family’s story rather than giving viewers the full picture.
British Royal News: The Crown Season 4’s Controversies
However, the news apparently comes to a huge relief for Prince Charles, as he was reportedly worried about how he would be depicted in the upcoming season of the show, seeing how his messy divorce from Princess Diana generated one negative headline after another for the royal family.
Seeing how both Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles have made great strides to rehabilitate their public images, many royal fans and critics alike know that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall want to keep things the way they are, regardless of what kind of ‘faithful’ representation of history The Crown offers to viewers. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the upcoming series of the show for that matter.
