‘General Hospital’ Star Vernée Watson Lands Major Guest Role on ‘Matlock’ Reboot

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Stella Henry is a pivotal player in the land of Port Charles, and her portrayer, Vernée Watson, is much-loved by fans.

With that said, the seasoned actress is about to hop away from the land of daytime and into the land of primetime with a pivotal guest starring role on the CBS hit drama, Matlock. More on this, below.

Who Will Vernée Watson Play?

Watson is set to play Celeste, the mother of Olympia Lawrence, played by Skye P. Marshall. Olympia is an incredible lawyer who’s had her challenges as of late and will now need to shift her attention to her mom.

Watson’s appearance will take place during the Thursday, December 4 episode, which is titled, “Prior Bad Acts”. Matlock spoilers imply that Olympia will work to repair her family relationship when she decides to take on a case for her mom’s new husband.

In addition, Olympia and Matty Matlock (Kathy Bates) will be given a piece of information that shocks them both.

Stella Henry’s Drama

Watson has been playing Stella Henry, Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) aunt, on a recurring basis, since 2017.

In fact, during her time in the role, Watson has won two Daytime Emmys: once in 2018 in the Outstanding Guest Performer category, and again in 2019 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress division.

Stella has had her fair share of drama recently, dealing with an insurance investigation launched by Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), which could’ve costed her job at the hospital and she may have served prison time. Thankfully, that’s all behind Stella now!

Meanwhile, Watson hasn’t only been busy with GH, and now Matlock, she recently appeared in Shrinking, an Apple TV series.

As Watson is playing a key character’s mom on Matlock, there’s always the chance this guest-starring role could turn into a recurring one!

Watson appears on Matlock, Thursday, December 4 on CBS at 9 p.m. ET, and the episode will be available for streaming on Paramount+.
