Prince Charles has reportedly hinted in the past that he wanted to have a ‘slim down monarchy’ by the time he takes over the throne and it looks like he certainly got what he wished for. Although time will only tell when Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will become the next King of England and Queen Consort, it appears as though the monarchy is doing fine without some of its key members. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Charles And Camilla Parker Bowles News: Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Megxit Might Have Been A Wish Come True
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Charles has hinted in the past that he wanted to make the royal family ‘slimmer’ by only having a few key members of the monarchy in the public eye with their royal engagements. In fact, there were reports from back in 2016 that said Prince Andrew was hoping to make his two daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, full-time royals but Prince Charles nixed the idea. Instead, he only wanted royals like Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry at the time to serve in full-time capacities.
A good friend of Prince Charles, Lady Glencooner, who was also a former lady-in-waiting for Princess Margaret, said in an interview this week that Charles certainly doesn’t have to worry anymore about slimming down the monarchy now that Prince Andrew has been ousted from the public spotlight because of his controversies. Of course, there’s also the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle voluntarily stepped down from their roles too, prompting some royal fans to believe that ‘Megxit’ might have been a dream come true for Charles as far as him wanting to slim things down.
Lady Glencooner reportedly said, “Prince Charles has always wanted to make the Royal Family slimmer. Now he’s got it in spades! There are hardly any of them left!”
British Royal News: What’s Next For The Monarchy?
With Prince Andrew, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle no longer in full-time capacities, the spotlight will instead be on Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton and of course, Camilla Parker Bowles. In her same interview Lady Glencooner had nothing but positive things to see about Camilla, who she described as “wonderful” and with a “lovely sense of humor.” She added that she’s also made Prince Charles the happiest he’s been in years.
