Rumor has it that there’s a royal power struggle involving King Charles and Prince William. And this time, it’s allegedly not all about the handling of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Read on to find out more.
Behind The Palace Walls
Behind palace walls, conflict allegedly arose, and royal commentator Neil Sean raised the issue during his Daily News Headlines vlog on Tuesday. In it, he claimed that Prince William pushes for rapid and decisive changes to modernize the monarchy.
Meanwhile, not being very complimentary to King Charles, the royal expert said that he’s a monarch who “doesn’t like change.” Naturally that seems to make him hesitant to act. And obviously, the different approaches could easily cause some friction.
William Wants A Reset
There has already been talk of the duo clashing over the eviction of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, but there could be more to it that fuels the rumored clash of wills. Allegedly, William wants a complete reset of the royal family’s official structure.

It’s not a simple thing either, and could in fact affect the line of succession. Perhaps Prince Harry should worry about that. He’s not that close to the throne, but could end up even further away. For now, he and Andrew just seem like liabilities to the monarchy.
Could that extend to the kids that Harry shares with Meghan Markle? Well, it seems that Prince William wants them nowhere near the throne. Not that it matters right now, but some senior family members never even met the kids. And allegedly, William believes the monarchy must cut ties anyway, for long term survival of The Firm.
Charles Is More Cautious
While William sees a cleanup as essential for survival, apparently Charles seems more cautious. So, Neil suggested that a generational battle goes on right now. While Prince William pushes a harsh line, King Charles prefers a slower, more traditional approach.
Well, slow and traditional doesn’t seem to help much in a world of instant gratification, and worse, instant news. William is younger, more in touch with the modern world, and keen to dump dead wood and ongoing scandal.
Royal Watchers React
From the comments section, it definitely seems as if most people prefer William’s approach. One person opined, “I agree completely with Prince William. Neither Andrew or Harry is qualified or capable of leadership and Harry’s children have no place being in the line of succession.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- Team William all the way. Cut out the dead wood William.
- I totally agree with removing all of them [but] definitely feel Charles should be the one to do it.
- It seems just a little off kilter that the King can suddenly strip Andrew, his brother. of his prince and duke titles almost overnight, yet still can’t manage to do the same for his treacherous son. Andrew has never been tried or convicted of anything so far, yet the Montecito mouth hasn’t stopped trying to destroy his family for 7 years…
- Royals from other countries have started cutting down on their families. I absolutely agree if your (sic) not participating within your country duties etc…they need exclusion.
