Last week, Prince Harry seemingly donned a new hat: that of a comedian. In a paid appearance, at the British American Business Council’s Christmas lunch, he threw in a few jabs at his family and American politics. Well, his performance really annoyed commentators who spoke about the negative things that arise.
Discussing Harry’s Speech
Kinsey Schofield spoke about it on her Clips YouTube podcast on Sunday. She and the other pundit, Rupert Bell, chatted about Prince Harry’s speech at a business lunch in LA. Rather harshly, Schofield felt so irritated that she opined that the prince’s attempt at humor made her extremely angry.

Actually, it seemed that both commentators believe there’s a definite purpose to the approach. According to them, Harry was in the process of changing his public image.
Bell pointed out the prince is “definitely trying to be a stand-up comedian” and he further said that it was a strategy to present oneself as “the happy” royal as opposed to the previous “paranoid and angry” one.
Living In A ‘Gig Economy’
Meanwhile, both of them concluded that instead of being an improvement, it simply reinforces the belief that Prince Harry’s lifestyle is now that of a “gig economy.” In other words, he’s dependent on one paycheck at a time from different sources such as speeches, books, or TV deals.
They opined that he risks losing some American fans by way of political jokes. Bell was in full accord with Kinsey, and slammed his “cheap political jokes.” In his opinion, it was a sign of foolishness for someone who is “not American.”
Desperately Needing A Reboot
To sum up, they considered the speech an indication of the existence of more problems behind the scenes. After all, Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t had a good year professionally.
Bell thinks they are in need of an absolute “reboot.” Next, he felt that Meghan must fix things with her dad so that she can show “a bit of humanity and humility.”
In a nutshell, the commentators believe that the current strategy by Prince Harry and Meghan is a failure. They believe the Sussex couple are caught up in a storyline where they see each setback as a “stitch up” against them. Meanwhile, it seems they create their own problems.
Royal Watchers React
In the comments section, plenty of people had something to say. One of them wrote, “Harry is a complete fool. Those titles need to be taken now he makes fun of his family and disgraces himself and the royal family. Wake up Charles.”
Here are a few more opinions from the discussion that followed:
- After Harry was released into the wild he showed us who he was and most of us didn’t like him. He is not funny and not very nice, either. Can he stoop any lower?
- Just to explain to you Harry so even you will understand, we`re laughing AT you we`re not laughing WITH you. Got that yet[?]
- Harry is not funny. Harry is not smart. Harry is the only one who doesn’t realize this and never misses a chance to make a complete fool of himself.
- Fun loving, amusing Harry was just a construct of the Royal Family’s extraordinary PR efforts to burnish a positive image for this nasty, hate filled fraud! His attempts to resurrect what we now know was a total farce, after seven years of deliberate destruction, is as unconvincing and, grotesque as the individual himself!
