When Calls the Heart: Kevin McGarry and Erin Krakow Reveal the Challenges Ahead for Nathan and Elizabeth

When Calls The Heart spoilers and updates tease there will be serious new challenges for Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) in season thirteen.

Their relationship with evolve and be tested in season thirteen, and Erin and Kevin spoke about them to Swooon.

A New Season, A New Frontier

When Calls the Heart is entering a new phase in Season 13. Elizabeth, Nathan, Little Jack Thornton (Hyland Goodrich), and Allie Grant (Jaeda Lily Miller) are spending time in Cape Fullerton- along with Charlotte Thornton (Brooke Shields) as Little Jack gets treatment at the local diabetes clinic.

Elizabeth and Nathan are fully committed to their relationship and are adjusting to a new family dynamic as the Hallmark Channel series returns.

The magazine talked with Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry about what the future holds for the cherished Hope Valley couple. “They have grown closer while living in this boarding house with Charlotte,” McGarry shared.

Nathan Bonds With Charlotte And Supports Elizabeth And Little Jack

McGarry continues, “Nathan has also developed a bond with Charlotte; he’s been there taking care of the kids, assisting Little Jack with the diabetes clinic, and more. I think they’ve naturally stepped into this family role, with everyone pitching in. “

Krakow added, “Nathan is always reminding Elizabeth that she doesn’t have to face everything alone. Elizabeth has been a single mom for many years, and she certainly has support from her friends in Hope Valley. But Nathan is quick to show her that he can be her support. He’s there for not just Elizabeth, but also for Little Jack; that’s very evident in Season 13.

Fresh Challenges, New Trials And Tribulations

Naturally, Elizabeth and Nathan will encounter fresh challenges in Season 13, and they will need to navigate these together as a couple.

“They have new trials and tribulations to face, and they have always relied on each other to overcome them,” McGarry hinted. “This year, we really see their bond tested, and we witness them stepping into new roles for one another.”

One element of their lives that won’t pose a problem is Charlotte, the mother of Elizabeth’s deceased husband, Jack (Daniel Lissing). While in Cape Fullerton, Nathan and Charlotte will become acquainted.

Nathan And Charlotte’s Bond Reveals A New Side Of Elizabeth

Krakow elaborated that this relationship actually reveals a new facet of Elizabeth. “Elizabeth is aware of her feelings for Nathan, and she understands what he contributes, not only as her partner but also as a father figure to Little Jack,” Krakow noted.

“We don’t spend excessive time seeing an insecure or doubtful Elizabeth, pondering how Charlotte will respond to her new boyfriend, which I find really refreshing. It showcases a different, more self-assured side of Elizabeth.”

When Calls the Heart, Season 13 premieres, January 4, 8/7c, on the Hallmark Channel.
