On tonight’s When Calls The Heart episode, Goldie National Park was on fire tonight. Oliver was supposed to go with Allie and her friends on a hike through the park. They were going to check the trail markers. However, Oliver got put on extended work duty. He was a Mountie first.

He had to follow orders and now he was feeling guilty for not going with his friends. He saw the fire spreading from town. He refused to stay behind. He rode out with Bill, Nathan, and Joseph. They found out that the kids had split up into two groups. The girls went one way. The boys went another.

They found the girls first. Oliver and Bill got them back into town while the others pushed ahead. Joseph and Nathan eventually found the boys. They ran into a spot of trouble getting out of the park. They worked it out. They soon managed to escape with everyone.

The mounties couldn’t do anything about the fire. It was spreading too fast. It destroyed the playhouse. It was destroying the new park. The wind was working against them and so the town needed to be evacuated. Lee put in the order to clear Hope Valley.

Edie ignored the order to go release her animals. She couldn’t leave the horses or the cattle. Lucas went after her. He helped her get her animals free and, while they were transporting to town, he noticed a shift in the wind. It was no longer pushing the fire towards Hope Valley.

It instead was pushing towards their neighbors in Benson Hills. The town was happy to hear that they’d be safety, but Higgins’s mother and sisters lives in Benson Hills. He wanted to go there with the extra water pumps they had left. He had to fight for that town as well. And so a group went with him to go over there.

Now, that they weren’t facing an evacuation, Hope Valley open their doors to their neighbors. Rosemary got on the radio to warn Benson Hills. Lee called their town’s Mayor.

They were all doing their best to minimize the damage of what’s coming. The whole town came together to gather blankets, clothes, and food for the evacuees. Mayor Hickam was very thankful to them when she later arrived. There was one little girl who had gotten separated from her father. Elizabeth watched over her as Nathan continued the search for the man.

Allie was worried about her dad. Only he reassured her that he would take every precaution possible. He wanted to come home to his family and that now included Elizabeth and Little Jack. Things with Benson Hills was easy at first. Lucas had the evacuated kids laughing before long. They managed to find a piece joy in spite of losing everything. It should have been a lesson for the adults as well, but unfortunately there was always at least one bad apple. There was a guy that tried to cut in line and steal supplies for himself.

Bill couldn’t handle him on his own. So, it’s a good thing Oliver was there to detain their troublemaker. Bill has been feeling out of breath since he returned with the girls from the park. He thought he breathed in too much smoke at first. Then he thought he was age. Either way he found himself a guest of the Infirmary. The place was full of the injured and Faith felt bad about not being there for niece. It’s just that she was needed elsewhere. She knew that the little girl was safe with the whole town looking out for her.

Benson Hills was gutted by the fires. Half the town and its houses were destroyed. Main Street was gone. The little girl named Gwendolyn asked about her dad when she saw Nathan return without him. Nathan told her that her dad was safe now. He had been injured and he was in the hospital in Bunson. He was at risk of infection so he couldn’t receive visitors for the next few weeks. Gwendolyn will get to see him as soon as the doctor clears her father. And Hope Valley was there to help Benson Hills rebuild.

There were no casualties. Which was a miracle. Bill even began feeling better. He tried to rush treatment and got told off. It forced him to do the right thing. He stayed with the nebulizer. It was working and he’ll be free to return home by that afternoon. Bill was also breathing a little easier knowing that he didn’t miss much. There was only that one incident that Oliver handled. There was one thing left to figure out. What caused the fire? The park wasn’t officially opened yet so it couldn’t have been human mistake.

It just so happened that it started right after McGinty made threats and so now Lee has his suspicions.
