Pubs are having a very hard time in the UK right now, as over 15,000 have closed their doors since 2000 because of crucial times and economic hardships. That’s why Prince William wants to step in and do something about it before it’s too late.

Speaking to the press during a recent outing, Prince William talked about his love for pubs and how crucial they are to the local communities and of course, the economy.

He said, “I want to help pubs. This is the best place to come and get to know each other. I grew up in pubs. I absolutely love pubs.”

If that weren’t enough, the future king of England also said, “It’s crucial. It’s the human-to-human contact, isn’t it, rather than just being on the phone or watching TV.”

And while there’s no doubt that a lot of people would certainly agree with Prince William’s sentiments about the importance of pub culture in the UK, they can’t help but raise their eyebrows over his statement.

That’s because for the longest time, there have been rumors suggesting that the Prince of Wales really does love pubs and beer so much that he often spends more time there than at home with his wife Kate Middleton, and their three children.

Now, whether or not that is actually true, is anyone’s guess but critics think that Prince William can have his beer, as long as it’s enjoyed in moderation.
