Jill Biden’s First Husband Bill Stevenson Arrested For Killing His Wife

Delaware man Bill Stevenson was arrested and formerly charged with the murder of his wife Linda this week.  To most outsiders looking in it was just another sad and deadly tale of domestic violence.  But, Bill Stevenson isn’t just your average Delaware Joe.  He’s the ex-husband of former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

When Was Jill Biden Married To Murderer Bill Stevenson

Long before she met Senator and then President Joe Biden, Jill Biden was married to her first husband.  Jill and Bill Stevenson tied the knot in 1970, and then filed for divorce just five years later. 

It was another time and divorces were much less common than they are now.  But considering the fact that Stevenson killed his next wife, we have an idea why Jill bailed on him.

In December 2025, just three days after Christmas, a 911 call was made from Bill and Linda Stevenson’s Oak Hill home for a domestic violence issue. 

Delaware police responded and when they arrived on the scene they found Bill Stevenson’s wife unconscious, Linda was later pronounced dead.

Per a report from People Magazine, “Bill was indicted on a first-degree murder charge and taken into custody without incident on Monday Feb. 2, the New Castle County Police Department said in a press release.  Bill was arraigned and is currently being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, police said.”  

Linda Stevenson’s Cause Of Death

So far Linda Stevenson’s cause of death hasn’t been publicly revealed.  There has also been a lot of speculation on the web about who called the police for help. 

Was it actually Linda who made the call, and she was killed before they arrived to help her?  Or did Bill Stevenson call 911 after he killed his wife?
