General Hospital (GH) star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) recently appeared on a live podcast, and during that, he revealed a bit of a twist for his upcoming State of Mind. Read on to find out what’s happening.
The Upcoming Podcast Guests
Taking to his Instagram on Thursday night, Maurice shared a photo of himself all dressed up and polished. In his caption, he reminded his ABC soap fans that his next podcast arrives on Sunday, as usual.
Plus, he mentioned that it’s his “Birthday edition.” From his hashtags, GH fans know to expect Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) and Dom Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri).
Back at the end of January, Maurice Benard hinted to his GH fans they might see Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) return. Plus, he mentioned Clancy Brown from movies like The Shawshank Redemption.
Other names that he dropped included Josh Swickard (Detective Harrison Chase) and Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne). Well, fans saw Josh and his amazing 102-year-old grandfather. And last Sunday, they saw Kelly. However, the real-life Sonny Corinthos hadn’t mentioned Lisa LoCicero and Dom Zamprogna.
The Twist
On Thursday night, Maurice Benard turned up on a livestream with Michael Fairman. During the podcast, they chatted about the upcoming State of Mind. And, it turns out that twist involves Dom (Sonny’s “TV son”) interviewing Maurice!

That’s a turnaround from his usual podcast. So, it gives General Hospital fans something interesting to look forward to.
A Big Birhday Special
During their discussion, GH fans heard Maurice Benard explain that he much prefers asking the questions. Well, it also seems as if the interview with Dom and Lisa is going to be worth watching.
Even Michael Fairman said that it’s going to be a big birthday podcast. If you don’t know, Maurice celebrates his birthday on March 1st, and he’ll be turning 63 years old.
The duo joked about how when you get to 60, it doesn’t seem old anymore. So, Maurice quipped that perhaps he’ll feel old “in my 70s.”
Talking About Mental Health
As the conversation moved on, Maurice mentioned that he has no issues with talking about mental health. Other times, he pushes his mental bipolar issues out there on the ABC show.
Usually, he doesn’t have a problem with that. But sometimes, he fears “what others might think.” Still, he noted, “it’s better to do something than nothing.”
Another motivation is that Maurice sees other men who “can’t cry…or get emotional.” So, he noted, “Just watch me,” adding, “I have no problem doing it.”
Well, it certainly sounds as if the upcoming podcast on State of Mind’s birthday edition will be very open and frank. So, maybe bookmark it.
