Nathan was finally popping the question. He knew he needed an engagement ring. He went to Ned. Ned was so happy for him and all he needed was the ring size to help give Nathan the ring he was dreaming of. He asked Nathan what size Elizabeth was? Which put Nathan at a loss because he didn’t know her ring size. He never asked and it would look odd if he suddenly asks now. He still needed the information so he enlisted his daughter’s help. Ally likes the two of them together. She wasn’t even surprised when she found out her father was going to propose.

If anything, Nathan was taken aback by the lack of surprise in her reaction. Ally said the writing has been on the wall for a while now. They just needed to get the ring size and everything will work out. They came up with a plan. Nathan noticed that Elizabeth wears a ring on her middle finger that he knows will fit her wedding finger. They needed to get it off her, draw it on parchment paper, and return it all with Elizabeth being none the wiser. Ally first came up with the idea of making cookies. She knew that people would set aside their ring so they didn’t dough all over it.

The plan would’ve worked if Elizabeth hadn’t left the kneading to Ally while she used a spoon. Their next plan was to have Elizabeth help with the dishes and that too failed because her mother-in-law was too nice. Charlotte wanted to clean up after herself. They were stuck and running out of options. Nathan considered just straight up asking for her size. Ally talked him out of it. She said it wouldn’t be a surprise that way. They were considering other plans while Nathan carried another operation.

The mounties were investigating a connection between National Insurance and Pioneer Electric. They just needed to prove that information was flowing between them. That’s where Rosemary came in. Rosemary was an actress. She was needed to sell the idea that there was another credible reason for the fire that day and that Pioneer Electric might be in the clear. She met with her insurance adjuster at National Insurance. She talked to him about a farm carrying out a controlled burn right before the fire destroyed Benson Hills.

Rosemary really sold the story. She used her own sadness over the fire to sell it. The mounties were very proud of her and now they merely needed to wait until Pioneer Electric gets the information. The moment they do, they have evidence of collusion. Life moved on in the meantime. Ally came up with a new idea. She convinced Mei to host a pottery class. Mei learned pottery from her grandmother. She was now teaching her husband to share a bit of her history with him. Ally saw them and that’s what gave her the idea.

Ally invited Elizabeth to learn pottery with her. Elizabeth was going to say no and Charlotte stopped her. Charlotte said she could take Little Jack to Talia’s. She also needed time with LJ. They were reading about Robin Cursoe at school. They were asked to share what “survivor” means to them. LJ drew a picture of his grandmother because he thought there was no tougher than Charlotte. She didn’t need anybody. LJ thought that was tough and yet Charlotte felt that was a little sad. She’s never visited her son’s grave.

Charlotte later told Elizabeth that she couldn’t bring herself to do it because he was her little boy. She hated losing him and she was afraid of falling apart if she goes to visit him. Talking to Elizabeth helped with that never-ending grief. It also helps being around Little Jack. Charlotte was in town for a bit. Maybe she’ll work up the courage to visit the grave. Elizabeth still got to go to pottery class. It got the ring off. It didn’t give Ally much opportunity only she still managed to get the size. It helped Nathan get the right ring and it had even had Ned tearing up when he saw it.

Nathan was floating with all the good news lately. He heard back from Pioneer Electric. Their plan worked. He said the exact same words as Rosemary proving there was collusion between them and National Insurance. It was such great news that even Bill took his chance with Georgie. He finally made a move. She was hesitant at first because she was worried about their friendship if a relationship doesn’t work. It took Bill saying that they won’t know unless they try to get her to take a chance on him. Now they’re seeing where things go.

Nathan still had a few more steps to take before he proposed. He needed Charlotte and Jack’s blessing. Nathan didn’t know it when he asked only he managed to get Charlotte to visit the grave for the first time. He helped her gain closure before she left town.

And Lucas was thinking if he waited too long before he took a chance on love because now he fears he might’ve lost Edie for good.

The End
