No soap opera fan likes a preemption of any kind, but sometimes they are a part of life! With next week being March Madness, viewers who watch CBS daytime dramas need to brace for a little break in their favorite shows. More on this storyline below.
What Shows Are Affected?
Unfortunately, audiences of The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as Beyond the Gates will get a disruption in their regularly scheduled program.
That’s because of the NCAA “March Madness” college basketball tournament that takes place, starting Sunday, March 15. This tourney is one of the biggest sporting events in the U.S., as millions watch the games during daytime hours.
As CBS is the network that broadcasts these “March Madness” games, its soap operas are affected by the tournament. Episodes are pre-empted, and some markets might be delayed due to the basketball games.
When Should Fans Expect Pre-Emptions
It looks like during the week of March 16-20, fans of The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as Beyond the Gates, will face pre-emptions for all three shows on Thursday, March 18, and Friday, March 19.
The bad news is, there will be no updated drama in the land of Genoa City, Los Angeles, or Fairmont Crest for two days; however, the good news is that the shows will return to their regular schedules as of Monday, March 23.
For fans who are lagging behind on episodes, those two days can be used to catch up on storylines. All three shows do stream on Paramount Plus, so the break can help binge-watch and get up to date on what’s going on. At the end of the day, preemptions are fun, but it is what it is!
