Closing Credits Reflection

According to Jason47, the closing credits for this week’s Days of Our Lives show an actress and actor on canvas who have been dropped from their contracts and are now recurring.

The two affected are none other than Elia Cantu, who plays Jada Hunter, as well as long-time Days star Galen Gering, who has played Rafe Hernandez for just under two decades.

This has Days of Our Lives fans feeling like they are on a roller coaster ride, as they just felt an upward spiral, and now a downturn.

It was just announced that Mattsson is joining the cast, with her appearing on screen in early 2027.

The General Hospital alum was a fan favorite on the ABC soap, where she played Sasha Gilmore, and is sure to spice things up in the land of Salem.

As of this writing, there is no information on the character Mattsson will be playing.

The History

Cantu joined the soap in 2022 playing Jada, daughter of Marcus Hunter (Richard Biggs), who was a massive part of storylines in the late ‘80s, early ‘90s.

Meanwhile, Gering has been a part of DOOL since 2008. He joined the cast after playing Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald from 1999 to 2008 on the now-canceled NBC soap, Passions.

As Gering has been prominent in the daytime drama for such a significant time, this new development is a major blow.

While recurring doesn’t mean Rafe and Jada are exiting the storylines any time soon, it does mean they won’t be seen on a frequent basis and only when the storyline dictates.

With that said, there are many characters on Days – and other soap operas for that matter – who still appear on the canvas regularly, despite being recurring characters.
