In tonight’s When Hope Calls: Brookfield recap, Debbie opened Debbie’s Pastries. It was just what Brookfield needed.
Sam Tremblay officially has more money than he knows what to do with and so everyone wanted to go to him for an investment opportunity.
It’s less an investment in Ronnie’s case than an endowment. He wanted to add a third floor to the hotel. He was willing to name it after Sam if he paid for it. No, he didn’t get a say in the hotel. He didn’t get paid back.
He got a floor named after him and that was it. Sam naturally passed up on the offer the best way he knew how.
It just didn’t stop people from approaching him. Sam only asked that it didn’t interrupt him with his girlfriend. His time with Maggie was special and they might have to change their spot now. They tend to grab brunch at the hotel.
Maggie felt it was disloyal to Debbie. Especially as Debbie got a special pot just for a British cream tea.
Sam had said it was a tradition to eat elsewhere and his traditions made it easier to find him. People formed lines once they heard he was willing to invest. They all wanted a chance at his money.
Sam was far too kind to turn them away. He heard pitches all afternoon. He had a line that Debbie could only dream of. Debbie’s new pastry shop was empty.
They loved eating her baked goods. They simply didn’t sit down to eat. It made having chairs seem unnecessary.
She couldn’t understand why there were more people with investment ideas that Sam knew what to do with than someone that wanted to sit down to read the paper.
Did you know Harley wanted to be an orchid farmer? It takes orchids up to seven years to grow into their full potential. Sam couldn’t wait that long.
Sam also had a hard time saying yes to Steve from orphanage. Steve had the idea of a kid’s chemistry set. The chemistry set could make a mess.
Ronnie also wasn’t wrong when he said people could get sued if someone were to get hurt. Now, Tom wasn’t asking for an investment.
He wanted a small loan. He swore he could pay it back in thirty days with two percent interest only he had no plan.
He’s a rancher that’s been ranching for most of his life and was known for get rich quick schemes. The bank has already turned him down. He didn’t bother going to Tess.
Tom went to Sam on a chance. The chance didn’t work out. Sam has tried ranching before and has no passion for it. One of the reasons he agreed to hear pitches was that he wanted to find his passion. He wanted to find something he loved almost as much as Maggie.
He doesn’t know what to do with himself. Debbie funnily enough had a pitch. She couldn’t leave her shop long enough to wait on line so she asked Ronnie to pass it along.
Ronnie didn’t think there was a chance she’d get a yes for a bread slicing machine. He turned her down and didn’t get a plate of treats from her.
Debbie created free sample platter. She was trying to rope people to come inside, sit down, and buy themselves treats. It takes the people of Brookfield a little longer before they accept something new.
Its why her bread slicing machine got turned down and time will show that it was a great idea. Hannah has a great idea of her own.
She created designs made for the modern rancher. She gave Wyatt a new jacket. She designed an entire wardrobe for women and she even had Lucy posed for photos in it to send to her investor.
Lucy looked amazing. Some might say too amazing by the way Wyatt was paying attention. Wyatt seemed to like Lucy the way she was and not all done up. Hannah noticed.
She didn’t think it was anything at first because she was more focused on getting the photos. Lucy had never taken a photo before.
She was very stiff because she was inside. Wyatt told Hannah that she put an outside cat indoors. She’s taken away from her natural habitat. Hannah then brought Lucy back to the ranch and she gave much her better photos there.
It was also harder to deny Lucy’s connection with Wyatt outside. Hannah spotted it and she felt a little sad, but Lucy did get some good news.
She heard that Tess gave her dad the loan. Tess got some extra money after she sold her shares in the hotel to Sam. Sam loved the hotel.
He couldn’t wait to change things up with fresh ideas. Ronnie hated it. He preferred Tess. She was a silent partner with an emphasis on silent. Sam wasn’t going to be that. Tess got the money to loan to Tom. And the ranch was saved another day.
Nora’s relationship with Michael Flecter on the other hand still needed work. He pulled away when he heard about the scandal brewing and right now Nora needs friends if not more.
If he couldn’t be it, he needed to tell her as much or at least that was the advice he was given. He still took it. He apologized to Nora for pulling away.
He explained himself. He also wanted to be there for her now. No matter what her former employer might have done.
And Maggie and Joe eventually got people into the pastry shop.
THE END!
