Boston Blue Season 2: Is Tom Selleck Joining Cast

The countdown is on for the popular new spinoff Boston Blue to return to television this Fall.  The Blue Bloods spinoff starring Donnie Wahlberg (Danny) debuted last year on CBS and was a huge hit. 

The show was renewed after the finale and we’re currently counting down the weeks until the Season 2 premiere in Fall 2026.  Is CBS going to bring back the iconic Frank Reagan when Boston Blue returns?

Boston Blue Season 2 Coming Soon

When Boston Blue kicked off season one on CBS, there was a lot of speculation that Danny’s father Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) might pay him a visit in Boston.  But, the guest appearance never came to fruition. 

Selleck played the patriarch on the original Blue Bloods series for fourteen seasons and helped the show become a household name.  The actor wasn’t happy when CBS finally cancelled the procedural and he made it pretty clear in the press.  

Since Tom Selleck was so upset that Blue Bloods ended, he would probably jump at the chance to appear on Boston Blue season 2.  Sadly, it doesn’t look like that is going to be the case.

Will Tom Selleck Be On Boston Blue This Fall

Fan fave Sonequa Martin-Green recently dished on the new season in an interview with Women’s Day.  Green plays the part of Lena, Danny Reagan’s new partner in Boston.  

The actress told the magazine, “We’ve been talking about Mr. Selleck for a long time … He is always getting asked, and as Donnie always says, the door’s open. We would love to have him and we will make sure the story is just right because Tom is so adamant about the story, as he should be and as we all should be. I think it would be great if we can have him, and I’m excited for whatever story it ends up being if he does come.”
