Katy Perry, pop idol and former American Idol judge, and her beau Justin Trudeau appeared in a recent report on YouTube. However, it did not make as big a splash as might be expected. Read on to find what happened.
A New Video of Katy
TMZ shared some footage in a video on Thursday and it showed former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry relaxing on a boat in the south of France.
Naturally, the show’s host and panel host jumped right on the footage, pointing out that “Justin Trudeau gets handsy slathering SPF on Katy Perry in the south of France.”
Joking About Justin
The boat footage did not generate much excitement among viewers. That may be because the same TMZ video also covered Tony Romo’s arrest in Wisconsin, Jennifer Aniston and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Las Vegas wedding.

Many viewers sounded tired of the relationship coverage. One person wrote, “Oh give it a rest about Justin and Katy. They are having fun. Remember having fun?”
Another commenter metaphorically sighed and wrote, “Justin who? Katy who?” which gives the idea that the relationship seems like old news these days.
Then another person seemed to think it might have been a slow news day, by saying, “TMZ news for dummies.”
The Romance Isn’t New
Anyone who follows the former American Idol judge and the ex-prime minister of Canada already knows that they’ve been together for over a year now. At first, there was huge buzz because they were spotted enjoying dinner together in Montreal, and he was seen at one of her concerts.
On another occasion, the news arrived that the couple spent time together during Katy’s birthday celebration in Paris.
While holding hands once made headlines, a video of Trudeau rubbing sunscreen on Perry seems to have attracted far less attention.
Instagram Official
Earlier this month, Elle reported about how the relationship developed. The outlet noted that “In late October, a Canadian source told People that the pair was officially dating and ‘already fairly serious.'”
When the couple made their relationship Instagram official during a December trip to Tokyo, it attracted renewed attention, particularly because they also met former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Seven months ago, The New York Times wrote an op-ed about how many folks seemed fascinated by the relationship. The article said, “I’d argue that it’s warmly reassuring: In a world of so much change and turmoil, it’s nice to know that some things will reliably play out exactly as you expected.”
It also reminded readers that Justin is used to mingling in the world of celebrities, as his mom, “Margaret Trudeau was enough of a jet-setter to be profiled in Vanity Fair.”
Interest appeared to cool again by the time they attended the Tribeca Film Festival in June. Some people focused less on the romance itself and more on how it might affect their children from previous relationships.
