General Hospital Alum and Soprano’s Star Passes Away

We have sad news for the General Hospital community. That’s because one of the biggest alums of the soap, and perhaps one of the most notable and recognizable stars in the television industry has passed away. Keep reading below for all the details you need to know.

General Hospital Alum Passes Away

According to TMZ, actor Vincent Pastore, who was also best known for his role as Salvatore Bonpensiero on The Sopranos, has passed away at the age of 80.

“I had the privilege of representing Vinny for more than 30 years, long before The Sopranos made him a household name,” his manager Robert Attermann said in a statement, as reported by CBS news.

“To the world, he will always be remembered as the unforgettable ‘Big Pussy,’ but to those of us who knew him, he was so much more.”

It’s also been noted that Pastore was found dead inside his Bronx home Saturday afternoon, and there was no indication of foul play.

On General Hospital, the actor played Maximus Giambetti, a monster character who was best known for his role as the father of bodyguard Max and Milo Giambetti.

Just to recall, Max and Milo were once bodyguards for the Corinthos mob family in this fictional town of Port Charles.

Pastore also became a household name thanks to his roles in the 1995 feature The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti, in which he appeared alongside future Sopranos co-stars Tony Sirico, Frank Vincent, and Dominic Chianese.

For his role on The Sopranos, his character was known as Big Pussy because he had started his career in crime as a cat burglar.

“I saw Big Pussy as a man with a big heart, and that was my choice of how I played that role,” Pastore said in an interview with Edge Magazine.
