Just because they are back in the UK, that doesn’t mean they have been welcomed back to the royal fold that quickly.

Clearly, we are talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as it seems like King Charles has sat his foot down with the royal couple.

That’s because the palace just released a statement clarifying Harry and Meghan’s role within the monarchy and what and what they will not be doing now that they are back in the UK.

In other words, don’t expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex take on any royal engagements or make public appearances on behalf of the king because it simply isn’t going to be happening.

According to the BBC, King Charles’s statement reads as: “The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

“It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of The Royal Family.

This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected.”

If that weren’t enough, Harry and Meghan are also not allowed to use their royal titles while in the UK and that they are “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

What’s Next For Harry And Meghan?

Clearly, King Charles is telling the world that while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are living in the UK right now, that doesn’t mean they’ve been fully accepted back into the royal family.

But then again, anything can certainly change in the coming months or even weeks ahead, right?
