General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) faces a reckoning this fall on the ABC soap.
After being there and supporting so many others around him, who’s been there for him-and his pushed down grief for Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) will take it’s toll!
Lucas Does Become Closer To Joe Fitzpatrick
Lucas does become closer to Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) his new roommate of convenience and necessity; but Lucas is nowhere near being ready to move on with anyone.
Even though playing an active part in Marco’s evil father Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) coming to justice, and Marco’s murderer, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) being killed helped, Lucas has pushed down his grief.
Pushing down grief and not dealing with it properly-if there is any way of dealing with it properly to begin with-is kind of like PTSD.
Lucas could be triggered by different things, and perhaps have grief reactions like depression or crying spells at inappropriate moments-possibly even in surgery!
It could happen with the next person coming in with a stab wound-or multiple ones, which could easily happen in a city like Port Charles.
Grief Has Stages, And Lucas Has Never Gotten Beyond Denial And Anger
Grief has stages, and Lucas has never gotten beyond denial and anger, which are the first and second stages.
In denial, the mind goes through a phase of shock and numbness-this response serves to shield you from experiencing the full extent of the pain all at once.
The second stage is anger-the pain can morph into frustration or rage. You may find yourself directing this anger towards yourself, family members, medical professionals, or even a higher power-Lucas directed it towards Sidwell.
But then, there’s bargaining and depression; and this is where Lucas will face a reckoning.
Lucas Will Try To Regain Control, Then Gets Depressed, Before Finally Accepting Marco’s Gone And He Couldn’t Do Anything About It
Lucas will still try to bargain-in an attempt to regain some control, he might engage in making deals or pondering “what if” scenarios.
He’ll long for the ability to change or undo the outcome, that he couldn’t save Marco. Then, depression comes; a profound sadness envelops him as the true impact of the loss becomes apparent.
Feelings of hopelessness, fatigue, or a desire to withdraw from others may arise. If he ever does get to the fifth stage, acceptance, gradually, he’ll come to terms with the reality of the loss, and the pain begins to diminish, and he’ll discover ways to move forward with his life, and begin to finally heal.
