Is this Days of Our Lives alum ever returning to the soap? That’s what a lot of fans can’t help but wonder about actress Kate Mansi.

Before Kate joined the cast of General Hospital, she played Abigail Deveraux for many memorable years.

According to People magazine though, it looks like she’s just landed a new role outside of the daytime television industry. Kate will be playing in the Tony-Award winning play Proof, which is her first acting role ever since she left General Hospital earlier this year.

Per the site, Proof begins performances Sept. 27 in Tucson before moving to the Tempe/Phoenix area Oct. 24.

“Proof has held profound meaning for Kate since she auditioned for a conservatory at 19 with Catherine’s monologue,” the theater company says in a post on social media.

“Conversations about the play with her grandmother, Honey, gave them a shared language for mental differences.”

Meanwhile, there was some speculation among General Hospital viewers suggesting that one of the reasons why Kate decided to leave Port Charles for good is simply because her character didn’t have a very good storyline.

What’s Next For Kate Mansi?

Sure, she was a supportive character on screen, but there’s nothing that happened these last several years that put Kristina in the spotlight or gave Kate enough material to show a different side to her character.

That could be one of the reasons why she decided to throw her towel in and call it a day.

Then again, if Kate does return to DOOL, a lot of people also can’t help but wonder what’s going to happen to the character of Kristina in Port Charles. After all, she is part of a legacy family and it’s not like she can be forgotten forever, right?

Now, as far as what her next move is, remains to be seen, but so far Kate Mansi has not made any comments about her future just yet. Watch this space as we have a feeling there is so much more to come.
