The Young And The Restless Casting Rumor Mill: Roger Howarth Exiting CBS Soap?  The Young and the Restless casting rumor mill is buzzing! Is Roger Howarth (Matt Clark) leaving the CBS soap opera?

There are some interesting developments to report on this story, and CTS has all the juicy details; read on below!

Matt Clark Leaves Despite Phyllis Summers’ Pleas

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, September 18 reveal that despite Phyllis Summers’s (Michelle Stafford) pleas, Matt didn’t budge and has decided to leave Genoa City for good, along with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk).

Phyllis caught Matt at Crimson, telling Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) he was leaving town – this time for real!

Sharon and Nick were doubtful (can you blame them?), and Phyllis walked into the coffee shop as all this was going down, and then stormed out.

Matt followed her to the outdoor café patio, and they talk about how he called her his best friend in the ‘goodbye’ letter he left at the Riverbank motel.

Phyllis wondered what happened to their “Patty” plan, and Matt tells Phyllis he has a new plan, one that involves Patty since their crimes look so similar.

He’s hoping to keep her under control. Phyllis tries to reason with Matt, but he’s adamant. Red walks away in a huff, and Matt breaks down into tears.

Is This The End Of Matt Clark?

It’s important to note that neither the CBS soap nor Roger Howarth has confirmed an exit.

In fact, Matt is mentioned in the fall preview, so it’s hard to say if Friday, September 18 is his final show even if the character is going on a hiatus.

Fans may recall that Matt was sent to prison in January of this year and returned in April. In addition, he’s been talking about leaving town since mid-July! 

Fall previews note that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will want to take control of Matt’s situation, while Phyllis will ponder having Matt in her life.

Matt needs to be around for either of these things to happen, so it’s likely that Roger Howarth and Matt Clark aren’t going anywhere!
