Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas begins October 16 with three festive premieres. Here's what fans can expect from the first weekend.

Hallmark Channel’s ‘Countdown To Christmas’ Slate Begins This Friday

There’s very little that people take more seriously than their Christmas celebrations, but Hallmark Channel might just top them all!

This season, the network is proving it by gifting fans 34 brand-new, love-filled, fun-filled movies. Hurray!

As if we weren’t already on our toes anticipating Lacey Chabert’s Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True when it was announced late last year.

So, what are you waiting for?

Stoke the chimney, bring out that dusty old Christmas tree and sparkle it up. Or, better yet, bake some cookies and grab the remote.

This Friday, October 16, it’s blast off to merry land!

Key Takeaways

What Hallmark Channel Has In Store For Fans This October

Who is merry? Hallmark Channel fans, that’s who!

In a few days, we will be treated to the first of the 34 new movies Hallmark has prepared for this festive season.

Hallmark has already been building excitement for its holiday lineup. Celebrating The Soaps previously revealed three upcoming Christmas premieres.

‘Tis The Season For Setups

Starring Amanda Schull, Victor Webster and Barbara Niven, October 16 will open with ‘Tis the Season for Setups.

And just like its name implies, there’s a lot of matchmaking and counter-matchmaking going on.

Per the synopsis:

“A party planner and a ski instructor think their parents would make a wonderful couple, so they start arranging opportunities for them to spend time together.

Their parents, however, keep turning those dates into outings for four. Apparently, Mom has a few matchmaking ideas of her own!”

Oooh… you better not miss this!

Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story

On Saturday, we get Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story, starring Lyndsy Fonseca, Robert Buckley, Marsha Mason, Barbara Alyn Woods and Khary Payton.

Synopsis:

“Darlene is preparing to attend her 500th Chicago Bears game, and her story lands with a reporter who could use a few football lessons.

Fortunately, Darlene’s firefighter grandson is available to explain the traditions and show her around Chicago.

Grandma is more than happy to encourage the arrangement, and we’re inclined to trust her judgment!”

Football and Christmas… it’s basically a Christmas touchdown!

Fans of Robert Buckley may also remember his earlier holiday romance, ‘Twas the Date Before Christmas.

Mr. & Mrs. Christmas

On Sunday, we get Brendan Penny and Pascale Hutton’s Mr. & Mrs. Christmas.

Synopsis:

“A single dad who designs holiday displays moves to a new town hoping to make Christmas special for his children, especially a daughter who’s beginning to outgrow the old traditions.

Reviving the local Christmas market brings him together with a practical accountant whose approach is rather different from his.

The decorations he can handle; figuring out what his family actually needs takes a little more work.”

Nothing says Christmas like cozy traditions.

Celebrating The Soaps recently covered Pascale Hutton’s exciting holiday movie announcement.

The next week will also see the premieres of Winter Wonderlanes, Forgotten Holiday, and What If Christmas.

Hallmark Channel will air a total of eight brand-new Christmas specials this October.

Annemarie’s Take

I love that Hallmark starts celebrating Christmas before Halloween is even over!

There’s something comforting about these movies, especially when they bring back familiar faces and give us a little romance, family drama and holiday magic.

I’m particularly looking forward to Mr. & Mrs. Christmas. A Christmas market and a second chance at happiness? That’s exactly the kind of movie I enjoy watching during the holidays!
