King Charles Praises Prince William, Snubs Harry & Highlights Royal Family Divide

King Charles celebrated Prince William's international role during a state banquet honoring Oman's royal family. But Prince Harry's absence from the King's remarks has renewed speculation about their strained relationship.

King Charles Praises Prince William, Snubs Harry & Highlights Royal Family DividePrince Harry’s UK return has shone a light once more on the long-running royal rift. It didn’t help that the former working royal is now back carrying out royal-esque engagements and telling us what he likes and doesn’t like about the term “working royal.”

In Australia, Harry suggested that royals should be judged by the work they do rather than their official titles.

However, upon returning to the UK, Harry and Meghan Markle remain private citizens rather than working members of the monarchy.

King Charles has largely maintained that distinction, and his recent State Banquet speech has given royal watchers even more to talk about.

Key Takeaways

  • King Charles hosted Oman’s Sultan at Windsor Castle.
  • Prince William received special recognition during the banquet.
  • Prince Harry wasn’t mentioned in the King’s speech.
  • Harry discussed his family and UK return in a GQ interview.
  • The royal brothers’ strained relationship remains unresolved.

King Charles Hosts Omani Royal Family At Windsor Castle

The Omani Royal Family is visiting the UK for three days, and to welcome the foreign royals, King Charles hosted a lavish banquet at Windsor Castle.

The event was attended by Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The evening was made even more special by the historical and cross-generational ties the two nations share.

It was the first state visit by an Omani ruler to Britain since 1982, and King Charles was warm in his reception.

In his speech, the King expressed his delight at seeing Prince William and the Sultan’s son, Sayyid Theyazin, become joint patrons of the Jewel of Arabia expedition.

He emphasized that the partnership represented the continuation of an important relationship between the two countries.

It was certainly a proud moment for William, who continues to take on a prominent role in the monarchy’s international engagements.

As previous royal coverage explored King Charles and Prince William’s growing responsibilities, the Prince of Wales is increasingly representing the next generation of the monarchy.

Prince Harry Left Out Of King’s Speech

Throughout the banquet, Harry’s name unsurprisingly didn’t get one mention.

Of course, the speech was intended to celebrate Britain’s relationship with Oman, so there was no particular reason for Charles to bring up his younger son.

Nevertheless, the timing was interesting, considering Harry’s return to the UK and his recent comments about the royal family.

As reports about Prince Harry’s difficult relationship with his father have continued to attract attention, royal watchers are watching every public appearance for signs of a possible reconciliation.

And while William was receiving praise from his father, Harry was making headlines of his own.

The Duke of Sussex sat down with GQ Magazine to discuss his return to Britain and the challenges surrounding his relationship with the monarchy.

Prince Harry Discusses His New Life In Britain

The 42-year-old also discussed several important things he and his family have done since returning to the UK.

According to Harry, one of the reasons behind the move was his desire for his children to receive a British education.

These days, the Spare author says his family is adjusting to life in Britain, with the children enjoying opportunities to socialize and settle into their new surroundings.

Harry has also expressed hope that his relationship with his family can improve.

However, that doesn’t mean a reconciliation with Prince William or King Charles is guaranteed.

As Soap Opera Spy has covered Prince Harry’s ongoing royal family troubles, his return to Britain has not automatically repaired the damage caused by years of public disagreements.

For now, William continues carrying out his duties as the future King, while Harry pursues a different path outside the working monarchy.

And it certainly doesn’t look like that distinction is disappearing anytime soon.

Annemarie’s Take

I think the timing of Charles praising William while Harry was making headlines with another interview is interesting.

But I don’t necessarily believe the King deliberately snubbed Harry by leaving him out of a speech about Oman.

William had a direct connection to the expedition Charles was discussing, so mentioning him made perfect sense.

What I find more telling is that Harry continues talking publicly about wanting things to work out with his family.

I wonder whether all these interviews are actually helping his chances of reconciliation.

At some point, Harry and William are going to have to find a way to deal with their differences privately if they ever hope to move forward.

Do you think King Charles deliberately ignored Prince Harry, or was he simply recognizing Prince William’s royal duties?
