Charles, Prince of Wales is to be commended on his work ethic but what he said this week may not be what the British citizens want to hear? Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall made a working visit to an Asda warehouse and once there he made it known what he thinks about retirement.
The couple was out on a post-COVID19 face to face meeting and talked with a few of the 700 workers who toil at the plant. It was actually Camilla who spoke first about retirement.

She and Charles were chatting with 74-year old Richard Sigward, a warehouse operator who has been employed at the plant for nearly 20 years. Sigward made it known that he has no plans to retire. In response, the royal couple revealed that they are in the same boat as Sigward.
According to the employee, “The duchess was saying to me she definitely agrees that if people can work and are happy to do it, they should carry on. She said she refuses to retire herself. The prince was the same.”
For those who think that Prince Charles would be better off letting his son Prince William leapfrog him and become king, this will no doubt dampen their hope.
At this point, Charles is the oldest British heir apparent ever, and his mother 94-year old Queen Elizabeth is the longest-serving sovereign.

The pair seemed to enjoy their trip to the warehouse, where they listened to tales of how COVID-19 affected some workers’ careers. Some staff have worked extra hours and shifts, postponed holidays, and even returned from retirement in order to meet the increased demand at supermarkets.
The general manager of the center, Chris Tilly, 48, noted that the job has become, “really, really challenging,” and said he was proud of his workers.

At The End Of The Visit, Charles And Camilla Unveiled A Plaque Marking Their Visit
He added, “We’ve had a lot of support from colleagues right across the business working extra hours. I think it is fantastic that the prince and duchess have taken the time out to come to the distribution center and meet colleagues.”
Before departing, Charles and Camilla gifted the workers a plaque to mark their visit and Charles said, “Thank you, thank you very much, everybody. You deserve a stiff drink after all this.”
