Stephanie Said Goodbye—For Now

In Memorial’s break room, Stephanie finds Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) fuming after Dr. Andrew Bishop (Fareed Ward) decides Nate can’t even observe a surgery from the sidelines.

Stephanie takes the slight personally and decides Bishop has to go; he’s rude, she says, and she’d gladly fire him herself—and enjoy every moment of it.

Ever the diplomat, Nate points out that plenty of surgeons are rude, including him in the past, and admits he and Dr. Bishop will never be friends.

Still, Bishop is a good surgeon; Stephanie, who doesn’t take kindly to being challenged, remains unconvinced.

Then Nate tells her he loves a woman with passion, and she giggles; hospital politics—with a side of flirting.

Nate Has A Better Idea

Rather than call for a firing squad, Nate has a better idea: give Stephanie a proper send-off before she leaves town; and what a send-off it is.

By the time they reach the Genoa City Athletic Club, he’s already given her a “little something something” to remember him by, and Stephanie confesses it nearly convinced her to stay.

He promises her welcome-back celebration will be even better, setting the bar high for her return.

They’re still lingering over a kiss when Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) catches sight of them and has to look away.

At the Athletic Club, there’s no such thing as a truly private corner.

Stephanie Leaves, Nate Explains To Audra

Stephanie’s car pulls up; they share one final goodbye kiss, and then she’s gone—Nate is left holding the bag, since the one person who overruled Dr. Bishop has just left town.

Audra heads for the door, but Nate catches up to explain.

She says she’s happy for him: he’s a good man who deserves this.

He thanks her, and she admits it feels strange, even though he does seem happy.

Nate reminds her that Stephanie is only gone for a few weeks, and a compliment hangs in the air—one Audra accepts with complete confidence.

Victoria Acts Like A Teenager

At Society, Victoria starts a text to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), then stops herself and sighs that she’s acting like a teenager.

Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) appears and asks who “Boris” is; Victoria explains that he’s the accountant who sends her silly memes.

Claire admits she’s lonely, with her mom so busy and Holden Novak (most recently Nathan Owens) away with no return date.

Victoria suggests she fly over, but Claire is beginning to wonder if Audra was right that Holden is over her.

Victoria, who has never been Team Holden, tells Claire to let him roam around Europe and move on.

Claire And Victoria Continue To Discuss Holden

Claire insists there’s good in Holden, then reveals the bombshell: he helped Audra deal with a shady art dealer who later disappeared.

In hushed voices, mother and daughter wonder if the pair killed him; Claire believes Audra might be capable of it, but not Holden.

Victoria warns her to steer clear, but Claire won’t let it go until she confronts him in person.

She’s changed, she thinks—and maybe he has, too; Victoria’s final theory is that Holden is keeping his distance because he cares about Claire.

Coming from a woman with a secret apartment, that’s a bold take on how people show affection.

Diane Updates Kyle

At Crimson Lights, Kyle is composing yet another text to Victoria when Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) arrives with the latest news about Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) making a spectacle of herself by crashing the photo shoot.

Diane is set on ensuring Vibrante fails.

Kyle calls going after the company a waste of time, prompting his mother to wonder why he no longer seems eager to destroy a Newman business.

Meanwhile, at the Newman Ranch, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) sits at home, thinking about burping a baby who isn’t his; a sentence no one expected to write about a Newman.

Then he recalls Billy telling him the baby won’t replace the daughter Adam lost, and Adam heads out.

Billy Apologizes

At the Abbott estate, Billy stops by to apologize to his brother, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), for being “an ungrateful ass.”

But he quickly turns to complaining about Adam acting like a dad—burping the baby, for example.

Billy confronted Adam about crossing boundaries, but the message didn’t seem to sink in; to his credit, Jack understands Adam’s perspective.

He helped deliver Summer Newman (most recently played by Allison Lanier), and that experience has kept the two men connected.

Billy sees nothing but trouble ahead because he knows Adam’s behavior is tied to the daughter he lost, and Jack urges Billy to give Adam time to work through it and focus on his wife and baby.

Kyle And Diane Walk In As Billy And Jack Continue To Talk

It’s sound advice, though Billy has always had a complicated relationship with sound advice, and he changes the subject to Kyle and Victoria being in London at the same time.

Billy suspects Kyle is plotting to sabotage Vibrante, since he was evasive when Billy asked about the trip; Jack agrees to speak with his son.

Billy has the right two people in London, but the wrong motive—Kyle and Diane walk in, and Billy makes a quick exit.

Jack tells Kyle what Billy suspects, and Kyle promises he isn’t undermining Vibrante and says Billy needs to chill.

Jack Intervenes

Jack speaks for them both: no one is interfering with Vibrante; Diane smirks, and Kyle takes the hint—once Jack leaves, she thanks her son for keeping quiet.

Kyle still believes targeting Vibrante is a mistake that will only anger Jack; Diane refuses to reconsider, despite Kyle’s repeated pleas, and walks away.

Alone, Kyle calls Victoria, as usual—he says Billy suspects him of spying to sabotage Vibrante, so they’re still in the clear—Victoria worries they’re pushing their luck.

Kyle insists he isn’t undermining Vibrante; only her better judgment.

Her doubts follow them to their secret apartment, where they meet and think of neither fate, Vibrante, nor Claire’s whispers.

Sally And Audra Finish Work And Talk About Audra’s Dream Of Being A Mother

At home, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Audra finish work and discuss Audra’s dream of having a family, which now feels far out of reach.

Not everyone gets lucky like Sally, Audra says—they shift to Billy’s troubles with his mother and Adam.

Billy worries Adam is too attached to the baby, and they hope the issue will pass.

When Adam arrives, Audra reluctantly leaves them alone at their request—Adam tells Sally that Billy ordered him to stay away from her and the baby.

Sally is sure Billy appreciates it, and Adam understands, but feels resentful, assuming Billy thinks he’s trying to replace the daughter they lost; he insists that isn’t true.

Sally Denies The Suggestion

Sally says she never suggested that to Billy.

Adam wonders if Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) put the idea in his head.

He says he asked Chelsea about having another baby, but she rejected the idea, apparently for good.

Sally sympathizes, but wonders if Chelsea is right that Adam is trying to heal a wound—a decision that wouldn’t be fair to Chelsea or their daughter.

When the baby cries, Adam tells Sally to get her; Sally returns with the baby, and Adam says he always knew she’d be a natural—just then, Billy walks in and sees them together.

Annemarie’s Take

I don’t think Victoria and Kyle are fooling anyone for much longer! They’re taking some enormous risks, especially with Claire caught in the middle.

And Billy walking in on Adam with Sally and Ruby is just asking for trouble. I understand why Adam feels attached to the baby, but Billy has made his feelings perfectly clear!
