Apparently, the Pinocchio of the year award goes to Prince Harry. That’s because Prince Harry’s nose must have grown a few feet when he told his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, that he would remain in the Royal Family. By now, it’s clear to everyone on planet Earth that Prince Harry stepped down as a senior member of the Royal Family during the debacle that has come to be known as “Megxit.”
Information revealed in a new book called “Finding Freedom” claims that Prince Harry wanted out of the Royal family before he ever even met the American “Suits” actress who would eventually become his wife. Therefore, Harry’s lies to Queen Elizabeth were all his own doing and had nothing to do with pressure from Meghan Markle.
As to the reason for the lies, it may be that Prince Harry was actually reluctant to disappoint Queen Elizabeth. He was untruthful to Queen Elizabeth precisely because he didn’t want to offend her at the time. Prince Harry thus made the false promise that he would stay with the British Royal Family.
However, another biography appears to support some of the conclusions reached about Prince Harry by Finding Freedom authors, Carolyn Durrand and Omid Scobie. The biography, entitled “Harry; Conversations with the Prince” and which was published in 2018, suggests that Prince Harry was ready to throw in the towel a long time ago but was convinced to stay despite the pressures he felt.
According to Angela Levin, the book’s author, Prince Harry was on the verge of a breakdown. Harry seemed to support that conclusion when he confessed: “I felt I wanted out but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself.” Some believe that it was Prince Harry’s sense of duty to Queen Elizabeth that ultimately (for a short while) convinced him to remain with The Firm.
However, it’s clear to everyone that the presence of Meghan Markle was apparently some sort of catalyst in Prince Harry’s life. Following his marriage to Meghan, Prince Harry obviously chose to renege on his promises to Queen Elizabeth since he and Meghan stepped down from their positions as senior royals.
Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in the lap of luxury in Los Angeles and feel no compunction about toeing the status quo’s line. Indeed, since ditching their status as senior royals, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have gone on giddy political activist sprees, making speeches and preaching the gospel of social justice. Many of the comments Meghan and Harry have both made seem to disparage Buckingham Palace in a backhanded, subtle manner.

One has to wonder if this isn’t Prince Harry lashing out and taking out some latent aggression that he’s perhaps held inside since childhood. Regardless of Prince Harry and Megh and actions and motivations, it’s also clear that Queen Elizabeth has been long-suffering and quite forgiving. In days of yore, Prince Harry might have been branded a traitor, locked up in the Tower of London, and someone might have shouted: “Off with his head!”
Queen Elizabeth has done none of that and has seemed more than willing to receive Prince Harry back into the fold if he should ever wish to come back.
