Apparently, the much-vaunted move by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the ultra-rich, celeb-filled neighborhood of Montecito in Santa Barbara is a bit of a bust. That is if one is to believe reports that residents of Montecito who have lived there far longer than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are actually incredibly annoyed with the couple. Part of that irritation has to do with the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan are evidently followed everywhere they go by paparazzi, helicopters, wide-eyed tourists, and more.
Indeed, according to tabloids both in the UK and America, residents of Montecito are having to deal with an influx of what amounts to media bottom-feeders skulking around, staking out Prince Harry and Meghan’s home, and even buzzing the duke and duchess’s property with helicopters or drones multiple times per day.
According to insiders, the media activity is unbelievably disconcerting to a community that is used to seeing American celebs such as Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, or Kim Kardashian with zero fuss.
Harry And Meghan Might Be More Annoyed Than Celebs
Something worth noting is the possibility that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just might be more annoyed by the hounding of the paparazzi than others in Montecito. Indeed, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the subjects of attention they claim they don’t want, some might argue the actions of tabloid employees can hardly be laid at the feet of Harry and Meghan Markle.
Just as an example of the lengths some publications will go to in order to get an exclusive “scoop” on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, consider the fact that one photo of the couple is reportedly worth over $250,000!
Meghan And Harry Get What They Asked For
It’s actually ironic that all of this unwanted attention has descended upon Prince Harry and Meghan Markle considering their oft-repeated desire for privacy. Recall that before Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan actually held up privacy as a key reason for their intentions to step down as senior members of the British Royal Family. As critics were right to point out, however, neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle rode off quietly into the sunset, to an undisclosed remote location.

Instead, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a beeline to America’s most media-intensive hotspot. Moreover, it’s clear that Meghan and Prince Harry have some kind of desire to remain in the spotlight. Meghan and Harry have pushed themselves onto American media non-stop.
For example, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle intentionally brought along a cameraman to videotape themselves handing out “essential” supplies during a charity event to support poor children who were going back to school. Talk about hypocrisy and a giant “look at me, look at me, look at me!” moment for Prince Harry and Meghan!
As Catherine Bennett wrote in The Guardian, “Harry and Meghan insist on privacy. Apart from when they’re the ones doing the dishing.”
