General Hospital’s Maurice recently took a look at things and suggested that he might retire at age 63 or 64. However, costar, Steve Burton, who plays Jason Morgan told Maurice most people now wait till 66 or 67. Maurice says maybe he should wait.

According to General Hospital news, Maurice Benard seemed a bit shocked to learn when people are retiring these days but seems resigned to wait for retirement. Sonny fans would not be happy to see the mobster retire and turn the reigns over to Jason. It’s not that Jason isn’t capable of running the organization, but Jason prefers to work for Sonny, not to be the boss. Sonny and Jason are simply better together.

GH Spoilers – Where Would Port Charles Be Without Sonny?

If Maurice retires, where would GH be without Sonny? Sonny may hand down the torch to Jason. However, fans seem to prefer the fab four together. Sonny Corinthos has kept drugs out of Port Charles for years. With men like Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) in town, who is going to protect Port Charles? Let’s be honest, we have the police commissioner in Renault’s back pocket. Jordan Ashford (Brianna Nicole Henry) is having to help Cyrus to keep her family safe. Without Sonny on hand, Port Charles would be the drug capital of the east because of Renault.

General Hospital Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos Has A Huge Following

General Hospital’s Sonny, and of course Carly, is probably the biggest fan base that G.H. has, followed closely by Jasam (Jason Morgan and Sam McCall) fans. These two fan bases overlap because the fans who love the mob mostly love these four workings together.

Of course, General Hospital fans of the mob would accept Jason running things but it would not be the same without Sonny in town. Some Sonny fans cannot wait until he comes back as the mobster fans remember and runs Cyrus out of town or kills him. Port Charles and Sonny simply go hand in hand, they have for years.

General hospital’s Maurice Benard started out as Nico Kelly on All My Children in 1987 and has been acting ever since. Maurice has also overcome the adversity of Bipolar Disorder and speaks out often to help those with mental illness. Since starting GH in 1993, Benard has brought awareness to Bipolar Disorder not only in real life but on the General Hospital set when his character Sonny was diagnosed with the illness as well.

Benard continues to be an advocate for those who suffer from the disorder that almost cost him his career. When and if Benard retires, GH will not be the same.

      Well carly can always go back to Jax if this does happen that probably where it going anyway her and Jax are keeping sonny and Nina in the dark they still have feelings for each other as for Nina she probably go back to Valentin

      Sonny can’t leave GH, I have watched GH since I was a kid, their have been so many actors, back in the day but are now deceased, where would be without Sonny Corinthos, Maurice you are one of the old school, besides Monica/Laura/Robert/and Anna, please don’t leave us, you will be so missed

      Have watched Maurice's career since All My Children's Nico. Being a long time fan it would be
      extremely hard to visualize no Sonny on General Hospital. I understand that retirement is always in the background of every working person however his character is vital to the overall structure of General Hospital currently. I know I am selfish as I want him to revisit leaving many years down the road. What ever his decision, I wish him well. Cheers to you Sonny.

      I just couldn’t watch GH without sonny and if they break the super couple up again Sonny and Carly I’ll stop watching any way they are far to good together to break up
