A natural reaction was seen on Devon’s stunning face when Amanda appeared at his penthouse door last year. He became instantly skeptical of the attorney’s initially stated intentions regarding Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) inheritance. But a love match hasn’t happened.

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is the man Hilary has feelings for. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is the man who she’s dating. Devon is the person Amanda had an awkward introduction to.

There’s no doubt that Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) has become the next great love of Devon’s life. They are moving toward engagement, marriage, and having children, or so it seems.

Will the projected reveal of Amanda’s genetic link to Hilary derail what Devon has with Elena? Maybe, but that potentially unfortunate result might happen because of how Elena reacts, rather than Devon.

In recent weeks Elena has seemed to reveal a fondness for Nate that could push her beyond the friend and colleague zones. She likes Dominic’s character and finds him attractive, but has no intention of acting on those feelings. But the Amanda reveal could change matters.

Amanda is a distinctly different person than Hilary. Her experience in the foster care system, overall demeanor, career path, and other factors leave the resemblance between both ladies as the strongest commonality.

So, if Y&R follows suit it won’t link Amanda and Devon romantically for awhile. That digestible, future pursuit seems like the best course of daytime action.
