The Young And The Restless – Summer Newman Doesn’t Like The Idea Of Her Parents Getting Back Together

Viewers will recall that Summer doesn’t like the idea of her parents getting back together. When she first realized that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) were “together together” she was horrified! She absolutely freaked out at her mother.

She told her they never worked out married to each other! Longtime viewers will agree she has a point – Nick and Phyllis have been married and divorced several times! Phyllis was involved with Jack in the past as well – and although their relationships fizzled as well, they may not have been as hurtful. Jack and Phyllis have remained good friends as well.

Summer may think if Phyllis knew Jack might still want her back, she might break up with Nick! Summer may remember Phyllis’ times with Jack as much happier than when she and Nick were married. She also knows that Jack has not had a relationship in a long, long time. Jack might be ripe and ready for love again! Many longtime fans of The Young and The Restless also think Jack is better with Phyllis than Nick is! Jack is a good looking and mostly even-tempered man, and he has a good heart.

Y&R Spoilers – Summer Newman Chatted Jack Up About His Lack Of Love Life

Summer took the opportunity to chat Jack up about his lack of love life. In a recent episode, she and her fiancé and Jack’s son, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) had spotted Jack in the Society restaurant. She told him it’s never too late to look for love. He teased her about her meaning “old”, referring to himself. She said the words she was looking for were “young at heart” which he still teased her about it meaning “old!”

Then he told her a lot of his time was invested in caring for his rapidly declining mother, Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). Viewers will recall that Dina has been struggling with Alzheimer’s Disease for quite a while now. For a time, she was in an Alzheimer’s care home, but she started declining. Jack and his sisters had a family meeting and decided it might be better for Dina for her to come home. Summer knows that Jack caring for Dina in their home would not be a problem for her mom.

Even though Phyllis has had her moments with being manipulative, down deep she has a good heart. She reached out to former rival Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) in kindness, finding out she was struggling with breast cancer. Similarly, Jack reached out to his rival, Summer’s grandfather Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) when he was ill. Summer quite likely thinks Jack and her mom are a better match than her mom and her dad!
